Valspar paint products is expected to begin in the fall of 2013. Ace will retain ownership of its existing paint brand trademarks, including Clark+Kensington and Ace Paint, but Valspar will manufacture Ace’s product lines exclusively for the retailer.

PPG Completes Acquisition of Spraylat

PPG Industries has completed its previously announced acquisition of certain assets of Spraylat Corp., a privately-owned industrial coatings company based in Pelham, NY. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition furthers the capabilities of PPG’s industrial coatings business for both liquid and powder coatings. Spraylat coatings products are used in industrial markets such as automotive parts, architectural powder coatings, transportation, and general industrial niches such as electronic device, metal office furniture and storage, and sign coatings. The company had annual sales of approximately $125 million in 2011.

PPG wins China Corporate Social
Responsibility Award

PPG Industries received the CSR Award - Special Prize for the third consecutive year and was named one of the top 100 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) companies in China at the 2012 China Social Responsibility Annual Forum in Beijing. The award recognized PPG’s social responsibility practices as exemplary among more than 3,000 candidates.

Cathy Yan, PPG general manager for government affairs and business development, Asia Pacific, also won recognition for her leadership of PPG’s corporate social responsibility endeavors in China with this year’s Award for Excellence in Social Responsibility for an Individual.

The 2012 China Social Responsibility Annual Forum was sponsored by the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (CAEFI), China Foundation of Consumer Protection, China Private Economy Research Association and China Forum of Environmental Journalists (CFEG), in association with the Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Development Research Center of Tsinghua University and many other related institutions. The forum is regarded as one of the major events in the field of social responsibility and is now in its fourth year.

“Fulfilling corporate social responsibility is never a
short-term endeavor,” Yan said. “We believe philanthropy in
China needs wider involvement from corporate citizens to
make our community more harmonious and to build a more
beautiful China.”
