2014 BASF introduces Mattex® PRO, a high performance Kaolin designed for use in ;at architectural coatings.
2006 Superior Materials, Inc. becomes BASF distributor through Engelhard acquisition.

Engelhard receives a Presidential Green Chemistry
Challenge Award from the US Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) for “the design of safer
chemicals.”
1987 Engelhard commits $80 million to a state-of-the-art expansion of its Middle Georgia facilities.

Engelhard is recognized by the Georgia Soil
Conservation Service for outstanding performance in
land reclamation.

Minerals & Chemicals Philipp Corporation merges
with Engelhard Industries to form Engelhard Minerals
& Chemicals Corporation.
1962 BASF Kaolin ASP® product line expanded.
1956
Edgar Brothers merges with Attapulgus Minerals
and Chemicals Co. to form Minerals & Chemicals
Corporation of America.
1946
Joachim Research Lab forms Superior Materials, Inc.
to sell Kaolin for Edgar Brothers; ASP®1 is used in
printing inks.
1941
Joachim Research Lab begins writing formulations to
include Kaolin in camou;age paint for structures and
non-motorized military vehicles.
1939 Edgar Brothers is the ;rst company to move slurry in pipelines from mills to the processing plant.
1937 Edgar Brothers hires Joachim Research Lab in NY to ;nd applications for Kaolin beyond paper.
Seventy years ago Superior Materials, Inc. and our BASF Kaolin
predecessor Edgar Brothers expanded Kaolin products into the industrial
market. We celebrate 70 years of collaboration with Superior Materials,
Inc., that continues to expand Kaolin into coatings, adhesives, sealants,
elastomers, stucco, printing ink, concrete, construction and related
industries.
