PPG Industries has announced two executive appointments. Hervé Tiberghien, senior director, global human resources, will become
vice president, human resources, effective
Feb. 28 and report to PPG president and
CEO Michael McGarry.
Chris Caruso, director, information
technology, global architectural coatings,
will become vice president, information
technology, effective Feb. 1. He will report to Ram Vadlamannati, PPG vice
president, architectural coatings, for the
Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia
Pacific regions.
Craig Jordan, current PPG vice president, human resources, will retire Feb. 28.
Jordan joined PPG in 1989 as HR manager for the company’s former chlor-al-kali plant in Natrium, West Virginia, and
progressed through numerous HR management roles prior to assuming his current position in 2010. He has led efforts
to strengthen PPG’s global hiring, succession planning and talent development.
Werner Baer, current PPG vice president, information technology, will retire
March 1. Baer, who joined PPG in this
role in 2002, has overseen the development and implementation of a number
of industry-leading global IT platforms
at PPG and the IT integration of several
complex acquisitions.
Two New Technical Hires by
Ribelin Sales
Ribelin Sales, Inc., an Azelis Americas
company, based in Garland, Texas, has
announced the expansion of its sales
force with the hiring of two technical
sales representatives, David Wiggins and
Derek Herald. Wiggins has more than
20 years of experience in plastics, laminates, industrial coatings and specialty
additives in both technical and commercial roles. He will be covering the Mid-South region.
Herald has nearly two decades of spe-
cialty chemical distribution experience in
both sales and product management roles.
He also worked in the coatings industry
for nine years in technical capacities. He
will be based in Houston covering the
Texas Gulf Coast and surrounding areas.
HORN Promotes Eva
O’Keefe and Jay Umphrey
to Vice President
HORN, a North American distributor of
specialty ingredients, chemicals and raw
materials, has announced the promotion
of Eva O’Keefe to vice president of strategic accounts and Jay Umphrey to vice
president of key accounts. O’Keefe and
Umphrey joined the HORN Coatings
and Building Materials team in 2010 and
have since become top producers for the
company’s largest business unit.
As vice president of strategic accounts, O’Keefe’s role as biocide product manager will expand to now include
the management of principal suppliers
Troy Chemicals, Imerys Talc and NYCO
Imerys for HORN’s coatings business.
Umphrey will continue to manage and
strengthen the presence of Ashland
Construction and H.B. Fuller in the niche
construction and architectural segments.
Strongwell Corporation
Names New Director of VA
Manufacturing Operations
Strongwell Corporation, manufacturer of pultrusion of fiber reinforced
polymers (FRP) and headquartered in
Bristol, Virginia, has announced that
Dennis Martin has been hired as director,
Virginia Manufacturing Operations, reporting to the president and CEO. Martin
will be responsible for leadership of all
manufacturing and shipping operations
in both of Strongwell’s Virginia manufacturing facilities. He will also have responsibility for the material control, process
engineering, tooling/die, and maintenance
functions for both facilities.
Dennis comes to Strongwell with over
35 years of experience in manufacturing
management. He has a broad range of
experience in Safety, Business Planning,
Supply Chain Management, Maintenance,
Lean Manufacturing and all facets of
Operations Management.
Dr. Ralph Paroli of the
National Research Council
of Canada Begins Term as
ASTM International Board
Ralph M. Paroli, PhD, of the National
Research Council of Canada (NRC)
in Ottawa, Ontario, has started his
term as 2016 chairman of the ASTM
International board of directors.
Since 2013, Paroli has served as a
research and development director in
Measurement Science and Standards
at NRC. Prior to that, he was director of Building Envelope and Structure
at NRC’s Institute for Research in
Construction. He has more than 30
years of experience in spectroscopy
and thermal analysis, including over
20 years of experience related to roofing. He has worked with many committees worldwide to develop new
techniques to characterize roofing materials and systems.
An ASTM member since 1994, Paroli
has served on its board since 2011.
He is a past chair of Committee D08
on Roofing and Waterproofing, and a
member of D11 on Rubber and E60 on
Sustainability. He also served a term on
the ASTM Committee on Standards, the
body that reviews and approves all technical committee recommendations for actions on standards.

Membrane Systems, Paroli serves on the
board of directors for the RCI Foundation
USA and RCI Foundation Canada. He is
also a member of the American Chemical
