Axalta Coating Systems’ Imron Aviation coatings were used
to repaint a refurbished helicopter for Sikorsky Helitech in
Australia. Sikorsky Helitech is the world leader in the design,
manufacture and service of military and commercial helicopters.
The model S-92 helicopter, originally intended for off-shore
work, had been converted to a specialized SAR configuration. It
was originally designed to transfer personnel from oil rigs but
was re-commissioned to serve as a Search and Rescue Helicopter.
It is the largest helicopter used in the southern hemisphere
and was subject to very strict specifications for coating applica-tions. Axalta’s Imron Aviation coating was chosen because of its
durability in salt air and its ability to overcome issues associated
with color variations and differing substrates. The result was a
high-shine finish.
