PPG to Acquire Pittsburgh-
based Architectural Paint
Distributor Westmoreland
Supply
PPG Industries’ North American architectural coatings business has reached
a definitive agreement to acquire
Westmoreland Supply, an independent
architectural paint distributor headquartered in Pittsburgh. The transaction is
expected to close in the fourth quarter,
subject to customary closing conditions.
Financial terms were not disclosed. The
acquisition of Westmoreland Supply,
which operates a 12-store network
throughout Western Pennsylvania and
West Virginia, will expand PPG’s North
American company-owned stores footprint. Following completion of the acquisition, the locations will operate as part of
PPG’s network of more than 900 company-owned stores in North America, and
will be rebranded under the company’s
new PPG Paints store brand.
“The acquisition of Westmoreland
Supply further strengthens PPG’s company-owned stores network,” said Scott
Sinetar, PPG vice president, architectural
coatings, North America. “Customers who
know Westmoreland Supply will continue
to benefit from a great product selection
and excellent customer service. Customers
will also have access to the consistent, integrated experience PPG delivers through
its network of PPG Paints stores.”
Tikkurila to Purchase ISO
Paint Nordic
Tikkurila will acquire the business of ISO
Paint Nordic A/S, a compnay that focuses
on developing, manufacturing and selling
energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable coatings.
The acquisition will complement
Tikkurila’s professional product range,
For example, the products reduce the
amount of heating or cooling energy
needed in buildings.
“This acquisition supports our prof-
itable growth strategy well. Demand for
energy-efficient and eco-efficient solu-
tions has clearly grown in the recent
years, and we expect this positive trend
to continue,” said Erkki Järvinen, presi-
dent and CEO of Tikkurila. “Customers
are expecting to receive increasingly
comprehensive coatings solutions from
one supplier. This acquisition also caters
to their wishes, and it is a logical exten-
sion to Tikkurila’s June purchase of the
Swedish KEFA Drytech AB, which spe-
cializes in functional products, such as
mold protection.”
ISO Paint Nordic is the market leader
in its sector in Scandinavia. The rev-
enue of the acquired business amounted
to approximately € 7. 5 million in 2013
and it had approximately 20 employees.
The company has a modern and effi-
cient production facility in Lunderskov,
Denmark. The company’s products are
sold in about 20 countries. In addition
to the Nordic countries, its main mar-
kets include Germany, France, Great
Britain, the Netherlands, and Australia.
ISO Paint Nordic is a family business es-
tablished in 1999.
