Faster and brighter: The Duros 8404 rugged
tablet computer has been re-engineered to
include an Intel Atom Processor and an
improved sunlight-viewable 8.4-inch diagonal
SVGA resistive touch-screen. The Intel 1. 1 GHz
Atom Processor provides increased processing
power with greater efficiency, which speeds up
computing, reduces the amount of heat generated, and extends battery life. The Atom
Processor is also available in the Duros 1214,
a logistics-specific computer that mounts
directly to industrial machinery, including forklifts and pallet trucks.
The new LED sunlight-viewable display
achieves brightness of 1,100 nit (candelas per
square meter), making it more than three
times brighter than the previous model and
easy to see in glaring sunlight. The screen is
dimmable from zero to 100 percent and has a
120-degree viewing angle.
This PC also features a solid-aluminum chassis and non-rotating compact flash drive. The
unit’s hot-swappable battery feature reduces
downtime and provides continuous battery life,
without the risk of data loss. (Duros,

It’s a wrap: Designed for in-line use with high-speed palletizers, Lantech’s S3500 straddle
wrapping machine can wrap loads up to 110
inches high. The unit is available with the company’s new No-Film-Break (NFB) technology,
which allows users to adjust load containment
and film use properties according to their
needs. The NFB technology provides metered
film payout, which allows the machine to wrap
partial layers as well as fragile display packs
and light loads without risk of pulling, crushing,
or load deformation.
The new NFB machine includes Lantech’s
Pallet-Grip system, which locks the load to the
pallet with a cable of film rolled into the bottom
edge of the web. The stretch wrapper also features a new visual management system that provides detailed productivity reports to machine
operators, floor managers, or, via ethernet, to a
central monitoring system. The machine is rated
at 60 to 80 pallets per hour and is available with
a high-speed option for 80 to 100 pallets per
hour. (Lantech, www.lantech.com)
Get a grip: West Chester Holdings has expanded its PosiGrip line of gloves with the
new Lunar Foam Nitrile palm dip models. Designed for material handling and other
industrial applications, the gloves feature a white or salt-and-pepper nylon shell that is
dipped over the palm and fingertips with full saddle coverage. This provides extra grip
on wet or oily materials, and better surface adhesion on dry applications. The lunar
foam coating has fast water and oil permeation that draws liquid away from the surface and allows the glove to grip even in wet environments.
PosiGrip gloves, which are machine washable and silicone-free, are available in
sizes from XS to XXL. (West Chester Holdings, www.west-chester.net)
