DO YOU ENJOY THE WIT AND WISDOM OF ART VAN BODEGRAVEN
and Kenneth B. Ackerman, authors of DC VELOCITY’S monthly
Basic Training column? If so, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to
hear the two gurus in person at their upcoming workshop,
Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management.
Sponsored by the Council of Supply Chain Management
Professionals (CSCMP), the “Fundamentals” workshop is designed for
both newcomers to the field and experienced professionals who want to
expand their knowledge. Over two days, the instructors will cover all
aspects of supply chain management—from how to choose a facility
location to how to manage your workers. Attendees will learn about
real-world supply chain operations and planning through practical
examples and case situations. The instructors say participants will leave
knowing how their part of the supply chain fits into the bigger picture
and how the other elements in the supply chain affect what they do and
how they do it.
The next session of the “Fundamentals” workshop will be held on
June 14–15 at CSCMP’s headquarters outside Chicago in Lombard, Ill.

You probably already know that NA 2010, the North American Material Handling
& Logistics Show, will provide a great opportunity to kick the tires on new lift
trucks and eyeball the latest and greatest in conveyors and sortation systems.
What you might not know is that the show will offer a number of educational
opportunities as well.
Educational offerings at this year’s event will include the Keynote Seminar
Series, a lineup of sessions on future trends in sustainability, training and workforce development, and retail distribution. Speakers include executives from
retailers Crate and Barrel and Lands’ End as well as representatives from the
Applied Technology Center, the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, and
Auburn University.
Also on the program this year is a new event, the Supply Chain Summit.
Scheduled for the last day of the show, the summit includes presentations by
representatives from industry, the military, academia, and government on trends
and best practices in supply chain management.
In addition to the Keynote and Supply Chain Summit seminars, conference
attendees can choose from approximately 50 educational sessions held in special theaters right on the show floor. These 45-minute vendor-sponsored seminars offer information on the latest equipment and technology innovations and
trends. Admission to these sessions is free to NA 2010 attendees.
NA 2010, which is sponsored by the Material Handling Industry of America,
takes place April 26–29 at Cleveland’s IX Center. Visit NAShow.com for complete
