Four-wheel drive: Kinetic Technologies introduces the ProFlow TrakSteer series of
industrial-quality carts with four-wheel steering. The four-wheel steering improves
tracking of carts in long trains and is helpful for cornering or maneuvering in tight
aisles. The carts have a one-piece-formed flat steel deck with welded stiffeners and
an 11-inch deck height.
Standard features include a heavy-duty floor lock; a choice of two popular deck sizes;
an auto-hitch; and a spring-loaded, self-stowing tow bar. The KT2-37NRTS model handles small containers up to 36 by 46 inches. The KT2-49NRTS model handles larger
containers up to 48 by 55 inches. (Kinetic Technologies Inc., www.ktecinc.com)

Quick scans: Motorola introduces the DS3500 series of
rugged digital bar-code scanners. Designed for harsh
industrial environments,
these scanners are engineered with new digital
imaging technology to
improve efficiency.
The DS3500 series units provide fast and
accurate data capture of one-dimensional (1D)
and two-dimensional (2D) bar codes, images,
and direct part marks (DPM). Equipped with a
powerful 624 MHz microprocessor, the scanners can decode bar codes within milliseconds,
regardless of size or density. Their fast-pulse
illumination and fast sensor shutter speed
deliver outstanding motion tolerance to
increase throughput and productivity. In addition, the omni-directional scanning functionality allows users to quickly capture bar codes
from any angle, eliminating the need to align
the bar code with laser lines.
Available in six models, the digital scanners
meet a wide variety of data capture needs in
multiple industries, such as warehouses,
transportation and logistics, and retail back-rooms. With integrated Bluetooth in cordless
models, employees are able to move freely
throughout the work environment for
increased productivity and efficiency.

Cold storage: Westfalia Technologies has
developed its fourth-generation Storage
Retrieval Machine (SRM) for the unit load automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS)
market. Designed to work swiftly and reliably in
virtually any environment—refrigerated, frozen,
or ambient temperature—Westfalia’s fourth-generation SRM device provides faster operation and longer life. Due to its sophisticated
double-mast structural design, it is one of the
heaviest-duty SRMs available today, according
to the manufacturer.
The fourth-generation machine uses a
redesigned base, which allows better tolerance
adjustments in the field and reduces field
installation time. More emphasis has been put
on maintenance, making it easier to access
components for lubrication and inspection.
Westfalia’s expertise is in designing, building,
and installing automated storage and retrieval
systems (AS/RS) with Savanna.NET
Warehouse Management Software (WMS) in
both existing and new warehouses. Westfalia
designs these systems based on each customer’s unique business processes. (Westfalia
