; Another step with CHEP. Produce marketer Fisher Ranch
Corp. has extended its contract with pallet-pooling specialist
CHEP. The deal calls for Fisher Ranch to use CHEP pallets to
ship Kingfisher and Fisher brand cantaloupes, honeydew melons, lettuce, and broccoli from its facilities in California and
Arizona to supermarkets, club stores, and foodservice distributors throughout North America.
; Military intelligence. The NATO Maintenance and Supply
Agency has launched the Routing Hub, a network exchange hub
provided by Savi Technology that allows NATO and other coalition military forces to share information on supply shipments.
Based in Luxembourg, the Routing Hub transmits data from
Savi’s interoperable RFID-based network and automatically
locates, tracks, and manages in-transit NATO shipments.
; Customer visibility. Third-party logistics service provider ADS
Logistic Services has implemented RedPrairie’s On-Demand
Warehouse Management Solution (WMS) at its Gaffney, S.C., facility. With RedPrairie’s On-Demand WMS, ADS customers will have
greater access to inventory, sales, and shipment data over the Web.
; Flush with success. American Standard Brands, a maker of
bath and kitchen fixtures and accessories, has hired Kenco
Logistic Services (KLS) to manage its new 625,000-square-
foot DC in Hutchins, Texas. The Hutchins distribution center
will be operated by 72 Kenco associates providing a range of
finished-goods distribution services, including inbound/out-bound warehouse operations, repackaging, packaging of toilet
kits, security, and yard management.
; Ahoy there. Red Arrow Logistics has been selected to provide transportation and logistics services to the U.S. Navy.
Under the contract, Red Arrow becomes a vendor to numerous organizations within the Navy, including the Naval Sea
Systems Command, Naval Air Systems Command, Space and
Naval Warfare Systems Command, and the U.S. Marine Corps.
; Spring forward. Bottled water producer Nirvana will be using
plastic pallets from Intelligent Global Pooling Systems (iGPS) to
ship its premium natural spring water products throughout
North America. The company’s products will be shipped to customers on iGPS pallets with embedded RFID tags.
