Shuttle system: Swisslog Warehouse & Distribution Solutions
offers its newest generation shuttle system for the storage and
transport of items in totes and trays. Known as SmartCarrier, this
shuttle system has the ability to consolidate and release product
at high rates in required sequences. Goods are presented at
ergonomic goods-to-person picking stations either directly by
shuttle vehicles or connecting conveyors.
The lightweight autonomously operating shuttles deliver an
excellent weight/payload ratio for rapid and efficient movement
of goods, the manufacturer says. The system incorporates
extreme modularity and flexibility, lower capital investment, and
increased energy efficiency. (Swisslog, www.swisslog.com)
AS40Z angled-frame conveyors: QC Industries
has added another component to its line of
Automation Series Conveyors: AS40Z Angled Frame
Conveyors. These conveyors enable elevation changes that
aren’t possible with a flat conveyor. The Automation Series
low-profile belt conveyors are used in a wide variety of applications, including packaging, automation, assembly, material handling, and manufacturing.
The AS40Z conveyors feature a 1.95-inch-high rigid aluminum
frame. The units’ design resists twisting, which is a leading cause
of belt tracking issues in some other conveyors. The conveyors
also feature QC Industries’ Z-Track design to help make tracking
simple. Optional V-Guide can assist in tracking, especially in
hard-to-reach applications.
AS40Z conveyors include Tension Release Tails, which flip up at
the push of a button to allow easy under-belt cleaning. They then
click back into place with all tracking adjustments retained. The
reduced torque requirements for the Automation Series Conveyors
allow the use of smaller motors than other angled-frame conveyors, letting them fit into spaces other conveyors cannot.
AS40Z Conveyors are available in three configurations for any
elevating or lowering application. The three most popular angles
— 30°, 45°, and 60° — are available as standard; others are available as special orders. (QC Industries, www.qcindustries.com)
Reach-Fork lift trucks: The new
Raymond 7000 Series Reach-Fork trucks feature productivity-enhancing lift and lower speeds
for performance without compromise. The new vehicles are
designed to meet the space, personnel, and budget challenges
that warehouses and distribution
centers face today. To further
maximize the number of pallets
that can be moved per hour, the
trucks are optimized for energy
efficiency through Raymond Eco-Performance, which is Raymond’s
approach to designing and engineering lift-truck solutions for maximum economic and ecological benefits. This includes regenerative lowering, which produces
energy when the forks are lowered to increase battery shift life
and reduce the need for downtime created by changing and
charging batteries.
The Raymond 7000 Series Reach-Fork trucks deliver 9 percent
more productivity and 21 percent more energy efficiency than
other models, based on independent third-party testing.
The Raymond 7000 Series also include an intuitive control handle that decreases training time for new operators and improves
overall operator comfort. Visibility is also good due to an open view
mast design. An optional Vantage Point camera offers advanced
height and tilt information (when ordered with the Height Tilt
Indicator) via a monitor mounted in the operator compartment.
The cab features a low step height with a universal deadman
pedal designed for increased operator comfort. The vehicle has an
A-frame suspension with strong steel springs to provide a solid
connection between the wheels and frame. The steered idler
wheel eliminates caster snap and offers full-time traction and
steering. The truck also features an external encoder and a see-through reservoir. (The Raymond Corp., www.raymondcorp.com)
