Order selector lift trucks: Yale Materials Handling
Corp. has launched a new series of AC-powered order
selectors with lifting capacities of 1,500 to 3,000
pounds. The new series includes the heavy-duty
counterbalanced OS030BF, standard-duty counterbalanced OS03EF, straddle selector SS030BF, and furniture selector FS030BF.
The new order selectors feature Smart-Glide, a
continuous height-sensing system that optimizes the
maximum travel speed at various fork heights by
providing step-less speed control. This
technology leads to faster travel
speeds, improved acceleration, and
increased productivity.
The spacious, ergonomically designed operator’s compartment
maximizes productivity and minimizes fatigue, while the mast offers
excellent visibility, the manufacturer says. The compartment has a
low step height, wide-cushioned floor, and a foot switch position
that promotes a natural stance. The pallet clamp automatically centers and grips pallets, enabling fast, easy order picking that saves
time. (Yale Materials Handling Corp., www.yale.com)

Remote carousel control: Sapient Automation offers new
iPhone and iPad control applications for its Hornet horizontal
carousels and Avenger vertical carousels and retrofits. Simple
click-and-go icons help organizations “lean” their operations
while increasing operator productivity and order accuracy. From
distribution applications in picking to management to maintenance, the iPhone/iPad application provides easy and intuitive
control. Managers can view real-time activity levels. Operators
can access any shelf or bin with a click or rotate each carousel to
browse its contents. The maintenance staff can view basic equipment status and conditions.
The iPhone/iPad application can be used as the carousels’ sole
dedicated interface or used in conjunction with a software-driv-en system. Likewise, virtually all horizontal carousels and vertical
carousels, regardless of their age and manufacturer, can be
updated with state-of-the-art controls, which will provide not
only the iPhone/iPad applications, but also IMHM (Intelligent
Machine Health Monitoring) on every carousel. (Sapient

SSI Order Verifier: The new SSI Order Verifier from SSI Schaefer
includes fully automated, item-by-item checks and documentation for shipments, which helps companies ensure that their
goods are shipped accurately and with perfect documentation.
The Order Verifier takes advantage of recent developments in
image processing and mechanics so it can automatically count,
identify, and document items. In addition, the module for these
automated monitoring processes satisfies requirements for track
and trace and forms the basis for extensive shipping documentation and consistent documentary evidence of origin needed for
pharmaceutical and other applications.
The module can either be operated as a stand-alone station or
incorporated into the conveyor technology immediately following
order picking. The items picked into containers for an order are
emptied into the checking station and automatically separated on
a conveyor belt. The system then records the bar codes of the individual parts. Any products without bar codes are captured photographically at a throughput rate of up to 6,000 items an hour.
The industrial image-processing technology allows the volume, content, expiration date, and counterfeit indicator of all
items to be checked. Information technology compares the information recorded with the corresponding order details. Once the
order has been approved, the station puts the order back together and transfers it to a load carrier. The recorded item data and
photos are saved to the IT system and stored for documentation
purposes so that shipment details can be provided to the customer at any time. (SSI Schaefer, www.ssi-schaefer.us)
Cross-belt sorter: CrossBeltSorters LLC has unveiled a new lower-cost cross-belt sortation system that brings this type of automation
to a much broader audience than previously seen. Utilizing “smart
car” technology on an aluminum monorail, the new system leverages advanced control capabilities in an efficient way.
Flexible in layout, the new system is based on an aluminum
monorail using straight and curved sections that can be configured for virtually any shape or size. Smart cars move effortlessly
on the rail, driven by linear induction motors with no moving
parts. Each discrete smart car contains its own internal digital
control with robust features, allowing for multiple recognition
modes and reporting functions. Scalability is inherent in the
design. (CrossBeltSorters LLC, www.crossbeltsorters.com)
