Facility control: Jones Lang LaSalle has launched
IntelliCommand, an integrated building management solution that combines cloud-based, smart-building technology with a world-class team of
engineering and operations professionals to
enable 24/7, real-time remote monitoring and
control of facilities and portfolios worldwide.
As a company that specializes in facility and
property management, Jones Lang LaSalle wanted to create a solution that combined smart technology with building operations expertise and
facility management execution. The
IntelliCommand portfolio management system
leverages leading-edge technology from Pacific
Controls to enable 24/7 real-time monitoring and
control to deliver seamless solutions for worldwide portfolios from a central location. The solution’s continuous commissioning feature monitors performance of building systems and equipment, from HVAC to air compressors, to ensure
that all systems operate at peak efficiency individually and in combination with one another,
fully leveraging Jones Lang LaSalle’s integrated
facilities management delivery platform.
When IntelliCommand detects an anomaly
that cannot be automatically adjusted, it alerts
on-site engineers or deploys resources to address
specific problems, and also often diagnoses the
problem to make resolution by facility managers
easier and faster. The solution more than pays
for itself in a short time based on energy savings
alone, estimated at 18 percent within 18 months
of implementation, the company says. In addition to the cost savings generated,
IntelliCommand supports corporate sustainability goals by reporting and reducing the carbon
footprint through its ability to measure energy
consumption and greenhouse gases in real time.

Airline ULD pooling: CHEP, a provider of pallet and container pooling and supply chain
services, has launched CHEP Aerospace

pooled unit load devices (ULDs) and repair centers. ULDs are used by airlines for the in-flight
transportation of cargo, baggage, and mail.
The new service brings CHEP’s long-standing
global experience in pallet and container pooling across sectors, including consumer goods,
fresh food, automotive, manufacturing, and
chemicals, to the aviation sector. Formed following the acquisition of existing service
providers, CHEP Aerospace Solutions will manage and service over 190,000 ULDs and airline
galley carts at more than 300 airports globally,
making it the world’s largest independent network of pooled ULDs and repair centers. (CHEP

FasFil EZ paper void-fill system: Sealed Air has unveiled its new
paper void-fill system, FasFil EZ. This system is designed to fit in
a work-cell packaging environment and uses an advanced crimping system to deliver efficient, high-performing, and sustainable
paper packaging solutions. The FasFil EZ system requires minimal operator training and ensures maximum protective packaging performance.
Sealed Air’s FasFil EZ system operates by activating a simple footswitch, which
allows the operator to dispense a continuous length of paper void-fill material.
Operators also have the option of using a programmed length output mode that
sets a timer to stop the paper flow, eliminating excess paper usage per pack. A
sturdy, yet effortless, built-in cutting mechanism allows for desired lengths of
paper material to be dispensed without the risk of repetitive motion injuries sometimes associated with tearing paper by hand.
Economically and environmentally responsible by design, Sealed Air’s 100-per-
cent recycled crimped paper pads ensure durable protection and significantly
decrease the risk of product shifting during the shipping cycle. The lightweight
and portable FasFil EZ system is simple to load and easily fits into most packaging
areas. Available in tabletop or stand-alone models, the system can adjust to customized heights and angles to fit in any packaging environment and can be positioned over a conveyor in on-line settings. (Sealed Air Corp., www.fasfilez.com)
