Beverage case sleeve: The global supply
chain consulting and IT services firm enVista
has released Stack Sleeve, a new direct store
delivery (DSD) system for beverage delivery. The
Stack Sleeve system can be used in the warehouse and during delivery.
In addition to the physical sleeves, enVista
provides a Stack Sleeve software application.
The software organizes cases to be picked
into each sleeve by customer order, directs
warehouse personnel to pick multiple sleeves
simultaneously, provides printed pick tickets,
and sequences the loading of sleeves by stop
for each route.
By optimizing loads within the truck and
reducing delivery times, Stack Sleeve can
decrease the number of delivery vehicles that
beverage distributors need by 25 percent or
more, according to enVista. (enVista, www.

Collaborative shipping solution: APL
Logistics, a global supply chain specialist, has
launched ShipMax Alliance, a collaborative
shipping solution designed to optimize and
manage high-frequency truck deliveries across
complex supply chains.
ShipMax Alliance helps shippers—particularly
in the consumer and retail industries—pair up
their loads with those from compatible partners
to common destinations and manage a steady
stream of smaller deliveries to customers from
multiple origins to common destination pairs.
ShipMax Alliance automates processes to
streamline routes, customize cargo combinations, and optimize delivery schedules. It can
also track metrics through detailed carrier performance reports and dashboards. According to
APL Logistics, the new solution requires minimal
training and low integration expenses. ShipMax
Alliance will initially launch in the Americas,
with a planned rollout to other regions in early
2016. (APL Logistics, www.apllogistics.com)
Pallet truck: The 4,400-pound manual pallet
truck with scale from Stärke Material Handling
Group combines the maneuverability of Stärke’s
Pallet Boss jacks with the precise functions of a
digital freight scale. The pallet truck allows users
to weigh pallets and containers without having
to transfer them to a stationary freight scale.
Stärke says the pallet truck is good for small
warehouses that lack the room for a stationary
freight scale, lift gate operations, shipping and
receiving, and trailer loading/unloading.
The vehicle comes with a large LCD display
screen. Options include double front wheels to
improve stability on uneven surfaces. (Stärke

LTL service: DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within
Deutsche Post DHL Group, has announced the launch of its Trans Border Connect
less-than-truckload (LTL) service between the U.S. and Mexico.
As part of DHL’s portfolio of domestic freight services, Trans Border Connect
is a bundled solution that offers a single quote for pickup transport, linehaul
transport, border crossing, cross-docking, border clearances, and U.S. and Mexico
customs border brokerage and expertise.
According to DHL, Trans Border Connect reduces supply chain costs and simpli-fies billing as well as shipment visibility by providing a single point of contact that
is monitored by experts in its centralized control tower in Laredo, Texas.
The service is being rolled out initially for transportation to and from five strategic markets in the U.S. and Mexico, with all border crossings at Laredo, Texas.
In the U.S., shipments are available to and from Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth,
Detroit, Los Angeles, and Chicago. In Mexico, shipments are available to and from
Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterey, Queretaro, and San Luis Potosi.
With Trans Border Connect, DHL is eliminating multiple carrier bills and hand-offs by acting as a single-source provider for door-to-door surface moves. The
company’s centralized control tower in Laredo, Texas, and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico,
is staffed by a team of 155 people who specialize in transportation between both
countries.
Trans Border Connect is designed for all sectors and types of goods and ser-
vices, with the exception of hazardous materials, textiles, toys, finished electronic
items, personal goods, shoes, garments, pharmaceuticals, and artwork (such
goods can be quoted separately). Sectors currently using this service include the
automotive, engineering, manufacturing, and aerospace industries. (DHL Global
