Reach truck: The Raymond Corp.’s new Model 7310 4-D reach-fork truck has four-directional travel capability, allowing increased
storage space and helping operators handle long, bulky loads with
less damage.
This reach truck comes with Raymond’s ACR system—a combination of AC technology and ergonomics that delivers performance
and reliability. The Model 7310 4-D also includes new features to
help operators work with maximum efficiency in narrow aisles, storing and retrieving loads with precision.
According to Raymond, the new four-directional truck is designed
to be maneuverable in small spaces, while also meeting the needs of
a typical reach truck user who has to handle loads wider than the
common pallet width. (Raymond Corp., www.raymondcorp.com)
Lift trucks: Big Lift LLC, the maker of Big Joe equipment, will be launching two new lift truck models this
January: a walkie reach truck with power
steering called the PDSR and the next
model in its Joey series of vehicles—the J2
low-level order picker.
The Big Joe PDSR will have a
3,000-pound load capacity and
lift heights of up to 157 inches
at launch. The standard model will include
power steering; side shift; integral tilt;
and proportional controls for lift, lower,
extend, and retract. The new PDSR is an
AC-powered vehicle with a compact chassis that allows the unit to
perform a wide variety of material handling tasks in small spaces.
Optional equipment available at launch will include several straddle
and wheel options as well as a choice of three masts: a 104-inch
two-stage, a 126-inch two-stage, and a 157-inch triple.
Also launching in January is the Big Joe J2 Joey low-level order
picker, which will feature a 2,000-pound total vehicle capacity and
the ability to lift 1,500-pound pallets up to 72 inches. The J2 Joey
will include power steering, an ergonomic mini-mast, and an industrial battery compartment as standard. Options for the vehicle will
include a choice of guard rail-mounted or front-mounted controls
and an optional overhead guard. (Big Lift, www.bigjoeforklifts.com)
Technology evaluation and selection guides: ARC Advisory
Group has published a series of Technology Evaluation and Selection
Guides, which provide information and advice to help readers select
the right technology for their operation. The series includes guides
to transportation management systems, warehouse services, and
other supply chain and manufacturing technology.
The “Transportation Management Systems” guide is designed to
help organizations make informed choices when selecting a transportation management system (TMS). It contains general guidance,
more than 100 specific selection criteria, return-on-investment data,
market data, and supplier profiles.
The “Warehousing Services” guide is designed to help organizations select a contract logistics supplier. The guide is based on ARC’s
recent worldwide warehousing services market study and draws on
a survey of more than 150 warehouse executives on what programs
have most improved their warehouse performance over the past
five years. This guide is designed to reduce request-for-proposal
(RFP) development time and provide a sound foundation for expediting the supplier selection process. (ARC Advisory Group, www.
