( 28 percent).
Another way to streamline logistics operations is by
investing in software. So it’s probably little surprise that
survey respondents plan to buy a broad range of automated
solutions in 2016. Of the companies that anticipate making
software purchases, 30 percent said they expect to buy a
warehouse management system (WMS), while 22 percent
plan to purchase inventory optimization software. Twenty-one percent of those respondents said they planned to buy
a transportation management system (TMS), 20 percent an
enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, and 19 percent
an application for business analytics/intelligence.
The survey respondents were closely connected to their
companies’ buying decisions, with 74 percent saying they
were personally involved in buying logistics-related products and services for their operations.
