Auto-tie baler: Balemaster’s EO Series of wide-mouth
Auto-ty balers can greatly reduce the time and effort it takes to
create bales of cardboard waste for recycling while also increasing recycling revenue per load.
The conventional method of hand-tying bales takes seven to
10 minutes per bale. Balemaster Auto-ty balers, however, can
process and automatically tie cardboard waste into a dense bale
in less than 30 seconds. The electromechanical tying system uses
fewer component parts than other balers in the market, according to Balemaster.
Balemaster balers have a 28: 1 compression factor, which
produce bales with a high density per cubic foot. This helps to
reduce annual baling wire costs while minimizing transportation
costs and increasing recycling revenue per load. The baler also
cycles less frequently, reducing maintenance costs.
These balers have a large “wide-mouth” feed chute/hopper
that can measure up to 46 inches wide to 70 inches long as well
as high-performance energy-efficient hydraulics. Users can adjust
the bale size and den-
sity. The machines also
feature dust suppression,
a wire-coil management
system, and heavy-duty
welded steel construc-
tion.
The baler can han-
dle upright cartons and
boxes, flattened boxes,
shredded cartons and
boxes, corrugated sheets, beer cases, and paper products.
Balemaster balers are engineered to save energy, improve
efficiency, reduce wire usage, and lower maintenance costs. The
wide-mouth Auto-ty balers offer touchscreen diagnostics and
controls, industry-leading energy and hydraulic efficiencies, easy
maintenance, and longer service life, according to Balemaster.

Distribution center balers: American Baler’s DC Series
Balers are a full line of auto-tie balers that have been specifically
designed for the distribution center environment. These balers
provide reliable operator-free baling that produces heavy bales,
according to the company.
The balers can be used to bale single-wall old corrugated containers (OCCs), corrugated flats and sheets, and shredded corrugated and paper. The balers can be fed by hand or via conveyors
or cart dumpers. They can also be “air fed” shreds and trims. In
most cases, the customer is baling set-up cardboard cartons that
are being fed by one or more conveyor lines to the baler.
American Baler is focused on making sure that its balers pro-
duce the right bale size and weight, and have the right ram cycle
speed and hopper size for the specific
application. The feed opening can be
50 inches by 43 inches, 63 inches by
43 inches, 63 inches by 48 inches, or
75 inches by 48 inches.
American Baler has been making
balers for 70 years and has an exten-
sive dealer service network across the
U.S. and Canada as well as around the
world that can provide fast response
time to any baler-related problem. The company also offers a
two-year warranty and an optional 10-year warranty on the
structure. (American Baler, www.americanbaler.com)
High-volume shredder: BloApCo’s five-shaft industrial
pierce and tear shredder is designed exclusively for high-volume
warehouses and distribution centers. According to BloApCo,
shredding old corrugated containers (OCCs) prior to baling or
compacting eliminates hopper jams and keeps trash lines moving
throughout the day, even during periods of peak volume. It also
reduces how frequently a baler needs to cycle, extending the
baler’s life. According to BloApCo, bales will be approximately
400 percent denser, which results in fewer, heavier bales. Fewer
bales, in turn, means storage and haul-away operations will be
more efficient.
This automatic shredder is engineered to “feed itself” without
employees having to help things along and clears its own jams,
according to BloApCo.
In addition, an overweight plate is built into the in-feed
conveyor that leads to the shred-
der. Whenever loads of 70 pounds
or more are sensed, the power
to the conveyor and the shred-
der is immediately cut. This pro-
vides greater operator safety than
a cable-operated emergency stop
switch, according to BloApCo.
BloApCo shredders are energy
efficient and require minimal maintenance, according to the company. BloApCo offers eight basic
shredder sizes and hundreds of
variations. (BloApCo, www.bloap-co.com/shredders.cfm)
