This year’s National Logistics & Distribution Conference, produced by supply
chain integrator Peach State, will focus squarely on leadership in general and
change leadership in particular. Jon Gordon, author of The Energy Bus and
other best-selling business books, will give the opening keynote address on “The
Power of a Positive Leader.” Stephen M.R. Covey, author of The Speed of Trust,
will close the conference with a speech about “Leading at the Speed of Trust.”
This invitation-only conference, which takes place April 14 to 16 at the
Georgia Tech Global Learning Center in Atlanta, is designed specifically for sup-
ply chain executives. Interested professionals can apply for an invitation at the
conference website. More information at nldcinfo.com.
The keynote address for the National Shippers Strategic Transportation
Council’s (NASSTRAC) Annual Shippers Conference & Transportation Expo
should give attendees a clear sense of how much things have changed in transportation and trucking. The speaker will be Overnite Transportation founder J.
Harwood Cochrane, who turned 101 last November. Cochrane began his career
in transportation using two-horse wagons and over the length of his career, has
witnessed the birth and evolution of the trucking industry.
The conference, which runs April 13 to 16 in Orlando, Fla., will also give
attendees a glimpse at what the future holds. For example, in one session, a
panel of transportation provider CEOs will discuss both the current condition of
the transportation industry and the biggest challenges going forward. Another
session will delve into the economic prognosis for the transportation sector in
2014 and beyond.
The conference will also feature three “collaborative learning labs,” or 50-min-
ute small group discussion sessions, on the growing role of technology, CSA
scorecard utilization in carrier management, and what shippers need to know
about insurance and liability. For more information, visit www.nasstrac.org.
