Automated storage and retrieval system: Integrated Systems Design’s (ISD) midload UltraStore automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) is now available with an optional “perfect-uptime” feature. This option allows companies to access the inventory in the system during downtimes.

The midload UltraStore AS/RS system is surface-mounted and does not use any center railing. As a result, the UltraStore unit can be moved out of the aisle, and the inventory and material can be accessed immediately with the perfect-uptime system. Supply chain modeling software: LLamasoft, a developer of supply chain software, has released K2 Enterprise, a new technology platform that allows supply chain modeling and design to be conducted as an enterprisewide collaborative effort.

Designed for supply chain design centers of excellence and global design teams, K2 Enterprise provides centralized supply chain data and an automated model-building functionality. This allows companies to build models faster and perform more rapid analysis, according to LLamasoft.

LLamasoft has also designed K2 so that it can run massive models and large numbers of what-if scenarios. It accomplishes this by allowing its distributed design engines (solvers) to be set up in clusters on internal hardware or in the LLamasoft cloud.

The software also stores all supply chain design project documentation and models. As a result, future design teams will be able to search for previous designs and make use of lessons learned from earlier modeling efforts.
