rollouts
Packaging machine: The Paperplus
Classic machine from protective-packaging company Storopack turns rolls
of Kraft paper and 100-percent recycled paper into paper padding that
can be used to protect medium- to
heavy-weight products. The machine
can create 24-inch-wide rolls of padding
at speeds of up to 160 feet per minute.
Storopack designed the machine to be
ergonomic. The device can be installed
directly facing the operator, allowing the
paper padding to fall down the output
chute in a vertical line into the carton.
According to the company, this makes the movements of the operator ergonomically optimal and faster. In addition, the machine’s
height can be adjusted.
Paperplus Classic can be integrated into most packing stations.
The machine dimensions are 39 inches by 31 inches by a maximum
81 inches. The device is mobile and therefore, suitable for various
operating sites. (Storopack, www.storopack.us)
Drayage management: Xenon FS’s Drayage Management solution
includes a database of more than 100 prescreened and fully compliant trucking vendors as well as an online quoting and booking tool
that contains more than 3 million rates. According to Xenon Freight
Solutions, this technology helps users avoid potential penalties and
insurance claims because it monitors the listed vendors to make sure
they meet current insurance and compliance requirements.
To provide its customers with additional assurance, Xenon FS
carries $1 million liability insurance and worker’s compensation
coverage. It also meets the new FMCSA MAP- 21 freight broker
requirement of a $75,000 surety bond.
Xenon FS’s vendor network serves the continental U.S. and can
be accessed by shippers anywhere in the world via the company’s
online quoting and booking tool. Customers can modify their
on-screen selections to instantly compare rates for any origin/desti-nation combination. (Xenon FS, xenonfs.com/)
Storage and handling system: Lista International Corp. has
introduced a new pallet-based storage and handling system for
heavy and bulky items. The Stak System uses dynamically adjustable
pallets (rather than fixed shelves) and a captive lifting-and-handling
device. According to Lista, the Stak System helps to maximize storage density by minimizing the vertical space requirements of each
stored pallet and its contents.
The system has a modular design with add-on bays. It uses a
unique handling device, which makes removing even large loads
easy, according to Lista. Operators remove and replace loaded pallets by guiding the mast to a new position, where the pallets can
then be easily extracted. The handling device maneuvers on four
axes, allowing for simple, intuitive positioning, according to Lista. It
also features easy-to-learn controls that do not require a license or
certification to operate.
Lista offers a range of Stak Systems to suit different work environments, such as the 2K, designed to accommodate storage items
weighing up to 2,000 pounds, and the 4K, designed to accommodate items weighing up to 4,000 pounds. (Lista International,
