LED worklight: Light manufacturer Patlite has introduced a new LED worklight
that’s designed for use in harsh, performance-critical environments. CLK-SA LED
worklights have a stainless steel body and clear acrylic PMMA resin lens cover,
creating a sealed enclosure that withstands high-temperature and high-pressure
washdowns and is resistant to water and oil. The CLK-SA worklight offers bright,
energy-efficient lighting; long life; and reliable operation.
Unlike other LED worklights that often produce a “yellow ring” effect that can
result in eyestrain, the CLK-SA’s “micro-array lens” evens out light refraction for
more natural lighting and even light distribution. (Patlite, www.patlite.com)
Stretch wrapper: ITW Muller, a manufacturer of both stretchwrap equipment and
stretchwrap film, has introduced a new,
economical solution for wrapping pallets with
its Octopus “C” automatic rotary ring stretch
wrapper.
The Octopus “C” takes up less space than
most other wrappers and is easy to install,
according to ITW Muller. The Octopus “C”
also comes equipped with the company’s
Easy S Film Carriage, which enables simple
film loading, maximizes
prestretch performance,
and minimizes wear.
The machine can
wrap up to 40 loads
per hour depending
on load size and wrap
pattern. The “C” series
Octopus has many of
the same features of
higher-speed models, such as the OctoFACE
operator interface touchscreen, maintenance
ring locking, a low-film alarm, and an exter-
nal grace port. Modular components like a
load stabilizer, roping device, and pallet lift
device are also available. (ITW Muller, www.

Label printer-applicator: The new 6950
PLC-based printer-applicator from Fox IV
Technologies is designed to be user-friendly,
with many features and options like unit-sta-tus texting.
For example, the 6950 printer-applicator will send text messages to maintenance
employees, operators, or supervisors about
operational conditions, such as “printer on,”
“printer fault,” “low label,” and “low ribbon.” The messages can be sent to up to
five cell phones. The large, full-color display
on the 6950 also displays warning, fault, and
ready conditions as do optional light beacons.
The Fox IV 6950 printer-applicator also
features an Allen-Bradley programmable logic
control (PLC) system, a modular print engine,
and a 4.3-inch diagonal full-color user interface. The PLC controller makes integrating
into an Allen Bradley-based warehouse control system (WCS) seamless. Now, a WCS
can pull information directly from the Fox IV
6950’s PLC through the ethernet network.
This allows users to remotely monitor the
printer and collect data. The 6950 can also
transmit data through a Web portal and generate operating reports through a Web-based
software system. This information can be
used to improve overall equipment and material handling efficiency. (Fox IV Technologies,
