Walkie stacker: Forklift manufacturer Crown
Equipment Corp. has expanded the capacity
range of its Crown SX 3000 Series stacker,
which is designed to carry and stack heavy loads
while maneuvering in tight spaces. Available in
North America and Latin America, the new
Crown SX 3000-40 walkie straddle stacker has
a maximum load capacity of 4,000 pounds and
a maximum lift height of 192 inches.
The Crown SX 3000-40 has a compact
design. Unlike typical counterbalanced trucks
that require an 11- to 13-foot aisle to operate,
the Crown SX 3000-40 allows facilities to use
six- to seven-foot aisles. Narrower aisles allow
companies to stack more product in the same
size room.
The SX 3000-40 can
stack single pallet loads
three levels or higher,
When pallets are
stacked vertically on
an organized rack system,
operators are able to quickly
locate and select the desired
product without having to
move numerous loads.
The stacker includes
Crown’s X10 Handle, which
is ergonomically designed
and made out of cast aluminum. The stacker has a
brake override function that
allows it to travel with the
handle in a near vertical
position. As a result, the
truck can turn in
an area almost
as small as its
own footprint, providing
exceptional maneuverability and reducing the
risk of damage to the truck, load, and facility,
according to Crown.
The stacker’s low-profile power unit and
clear mast design improve an operator’s ability
to see when he or she is working with elevated loads or moving products throughout the
facility.
The Crown SX 3000-40 comes standard
with a maintenance-free battery pack and a
30-amp, 120-volt onboard charger so battery
charging can take place anywhere in the facility. (Crown Equipment Corp., www.crown.

Tabletop printer: Zebra Technologies
has introduced its next generation of
mid-range tabletop printers, the ZT400
Series. The ZT400 will replace all of
Zebra’s ZM series printers.
In comparison with its predecessors, the ZT400
offers easier loading, simpler setup,
and increased connectivity options,
according to the
manufacturer. It
also offers Link-
OS capabilities;
on-pitch radio-frequency identification (RFID) encoding; heightened print quality; improved
printer uptime, reliability, and durability; an intuitive console (user) interface; and simplified serviceability and
maintenance.
The printer can be centrally managed, requiring only minimal technical
skills from its end users.
The ZT400, like the current ZM, is
intended for a broad range of applications, including those in harsh environments. The ZT400
can print a variety
of different label
formats on a range
of different media
types that serve the
needs of the manufacturing, transportation and logistics,
health-care, and
retail industries. The
durable printers can
be deployed in hostile environments,
such as a manufacturing plant floor,
where equipment experiences heavy
wear. (Zebra Technologies, www.
