Dynamic braking unit: Magnetek Inc., a
supplier of digital power and motion control
systems for the material handling industry,
has launched the full line of its CDBR-D
Dynamic Braking Units. Magnetek’s Dynamic
Braking Units work in concert with Dynamic
Braking Resistors to dissipate excess energy
produced by motors controlled by its Impulse
variable frequency drives. By removing the
energy produced by decelerating and stopping, CDBR-Ds reduce potentially damaging
heat in the motors.
New CDBR-D Dynamic Braking Units offer
short-circuit protection with an independent
fault output, diagnostic LEDs, and available
voltage threshold settings. Additionally, the
CDBR-D units are rated to 60 degrees C
ambient operating temperature. (Magnetek,

Dock light: The Rite-Lite Flex Neck LED Dock
Light from Rite-Hite features an articulating
arm made from molded nylon links. The links
provide multiple bend points for positioning
the light to shine into the trailer, and then for
moving the light out of the way again when
loading or unloading is complete. Unlike
metal “snake arm” dock lights, the nylon
links do not “droop” over time, making it difficult to position the light accurately. Instead,
the links can be tightened back up with an
Allen wrench.
The Rite-Lite is designed to take incidental
impacts from forklifts and overhead doors,
and uses six LEDs that consume just 18 watts
of energy while outputting 925 lumens. The
light is rated for 175,200 hours of service life.
The light has four settings and an optional
auto-dimming feature that senses when a
forklift or person exits a trailer and automatically dims the light to reduce glare. (Rite-Hite,

Smart navigation for forklifts: The “Guided
by Seegrid” technology will soon be available
to Hyster forklift customers. The technology
allows Hyster to increase the intelligence of
its lift trucks with Seegrid’s vision-guided
automation system, which delivers smart navigation without the need for wires, lasers, or
tape. (Seegrid Corp. and Hyster Co.; www.

Modular conveyor: Interroll has introduced a new modular conveyor platform
that shortens planning and installation time, and makes it easier to retrofit existing
systems.
The new technology is designed to be highly efficient and provide high performance levels. Customers can choose between the extremely quiet 24-volt
RollerDrive and a 400-volt RollerDrive for high conveying velocity.
The new platform, which was unveiled at the CeMAT material handling show in
Europe in May, will be introduced in America and Asia starting in 2015. (Interroll,
