Ryson High Capacity Spirals are in
response to our customers’ need to
go higher and handle more weight.
They handle double the weight capacity
of our standard spirals and can run varied
load sizes at speeds up to 200 PFM.
The new WT Model comes in slat
widths of 30” and 36” and can provide
an elevation change of up to 50 feet
with only one drive.
These spirals can also be configured
to allow the loads to enter or exit the
spirals at intermediate elevations, ideal
for multi-level warehousing operations.

Trailer rear wing: Rocketail LLC, a manufacturer of advanced aerodynamic tail systems
for semi-trailers, has launched its Rocketail
Wing, a next-generation rear drag reduction
technology for trailers. The Rocketail system
is a verified EPA Smart Way trailer rear fairing
technology for heavy-duty truck trailers.
Constructed of lightweight high-impact
gas-infused polymers that are internally
cross-braced, the wing-shaped airfoil has a
compact footprint with no additional external or internal moving parts. It extends only
14 inches from the rear of the trailer.
The Rocketail Wing is always deployed
using unique swing-hinges that lock the
wings in their maximum aerodynamic open
position each time the doors are closed.
The system shifts the wings flush with the
sides of the trailer each time the doors are
opened, allowing the doors to swing a full 270 degrees without being blocked.
Each Rocketail Wing attaches without guy-wires or struts with just two industrial-grade
stainless steel hinges. Installation, requiring only drill bits and tightening tools, takes two
people about one hour to complete. Each wing weighs less than 25 pounds and requires
minimal to no annual maintenance. (Rocketail LLC, www.rocketail.com)
E-commerce fulfillment solution: Ryder System Inc. has introduced an e-commerce fulfillment solution that aims to transform the way many manufacturers do business online, offering an alternative to third-party marketplaces by fulfilling orders of manufacturers’ products
direct to consumers. With Ryder’s new solution, manufacturers of small to large parcel goods
across all industries gain greater control over product selection, inventory management, pricing strategy, and customer service, all while maintaining critical speed to market.
Ryder’s new e-commerce fulfillment solution includes the opening of two purpose-built
multiclient facilities located in Perris, Calif., and Fort Worth, Texas, as well as the expansion
of an existing Ryder-managed warehouse in Douglassville, Pa. The three facilities are slated
to be fully operational by May.
According to the company, the e-commerce fulfillment solution minimizes the barriers to
entry for manufacturers wanting to gain greater control of their products and service levels.
The service includes a streamlined on-boarding process to ensure customers are operational
quickly; specially trained Ryder teams to provide customers with call center and IT capabilities;
best-in-class warehouse order and management systems; and full reverse logistics capabilities
as well as a complete suite of value-added services, such as private labeling, bagging, gift
wrapping, and engraving. (Ryder Supply Chain Solutions, ryder.com)
TMS upgrade: 3Gtms Inc., a provider of tier 1 transportation management software, has
released its 3G-TM transportation management system (TMS) version 18.0. In addition to
new capabilities and enhancements for planning and rating, execution, and integrations,
3G-TM v18.0 includes the company’s “Load Management Workspace” feature and a stop
interleaving feature that extends the cost savings of the 3G-TM system.
According to the company, the Load Management Workspace enables users to work more
quickly and efficiently. Built for any organization operating in a high-speed transactional
environment, the workspace significantly reduces manual work, such as phone calls and
e-mails, by allowing users to get work done with fewer screens and fewer clicks. It features
one screen that compiles all information and delivers a clear and fast snapshot to inform a
quote; configurable screens that allow customers to tailor information to each user; and a
Quick-Start implementation option to get users up and running in as little as two weeks.
3G-TM v18.0’s new stop interleaving feature is a planning enhancement designed for
organizations that execute local pickup and delivery operations, or that have access to assets
for performing backhaul or continuous move-type routes that they wish to treat as a single
load. Stop interleaving greatly extends the potential cost-savings of the TMS and improves
functionality around post-planning decisions. (3Gtms, www.3gtms.com)
