Only Auto-ID Solutions from a
Single Source Ensure Perfect
Data Transparency
The biggest challenge in logistics is not
transporting parcels – it is collecting and
managing the data they generate. Auto-ID
solutions from VITRONIC cover the entire
data capturing, visualization and analysis
process with perfectly matched hardware
and software products that we develop
in-house. They are the optimal basis for
implementing comprehensive Logistics 4.0
concepts.

Bar-code readers: Banner Engineering, a developer of technology for industrial automation, has released its ABR Series
imager-based bar-code readers for track-and-trace applications.
ABR Series bar-code readers utilize advanced algorithms to
decode a full library of 1-D and 2-D bar codes, including direct
part marking (DPM), damaged, distorted, and overprinted codes.
Their all-in-one design combines imager, lens, and lighting in
one compact device that can be used in many industrial environments. The readers are available in two compact form factors
with a range of lens and lighting options and multiple resolutions to reliably read small, complex, and challenging bar codes.
Industrial communication options include ethernet, serial, and
USB for seamless integration on the factory floor and Industrial
Internet of Things (IIoT) initiatives.
ABR Series bar-code readers can be configured using the
on-board Smart Teach interface or Banner’s Barcode Manager
software. This free software provides a flowchart programming
environment and a wide range of configuration options, including a one-step process for automatic setup and an advanced
option that provides full access to change and configure device
settings.
The ABR Series can be used to track and trace products,
parts, and components through production and the supply chain
for quality assurance, high-speed process control, work-in-prog-ress monitoring, automated line changeover, sortation, shipping,
and similar applications. (Banner Engineering, www.banner

Packaging systems: Automated Packaging Systems has introduced two new Autobag bag packaging systems designed for
flexibility and efficiency in large bag applications. The Autobag
600 and Autobag 650 wide bagging systems will accommodate
a range of Autobag “bags-on-a-roll” and “bags-in-a-box” materials up to 16 inches wide by 27 inches long.
The Autobag 600 is a semiautomatic filling and sealing machine
designed for packaging large products at speeds of up to 65 bags
per minute. The company says its
design has eliminated the need
for light curtains or double-palm
switches, while the adjustable six-inch pass-through enables shorter
cycle times.
The Autobag 650 is the same
wide bagging system with a next-bag-out printer that eliminates
the need for a separate labeling operation, increasing speed and
accuracy in e-commerce, prescription-by-mail, and catalog order
fulfillment operations. The Autobag 650 prints and packs at
speeds of up to 40 bags per minute.
The Autobag 600 and Autobag 650 can be networked for full
pack-station integration and central monitoring. They can also
integrate with Autobag and third-party equipment for fully automatic bag packaging operations. (Automated Packaging Systems,
