Customizable safety gate:
Wildeck Inc. has added the Pallet
Drop Zone (DZ) Safety Gate to its
family of material handling products. Equipped with a double-sided
gate, the device is designed to offer
maximum protection to workers
accessing large pallet loads at elevated levels.
As one side of the DZ gate is
raised, the other closes. This feature
ensures that the elevated ledge is
protected at all times, safeguarding personnel and palletized materials from falls.
In contrast to similar double-sided gate designs, the DZ gate utilizes more than
one pivot point on the pivoting arms. This results in vertical articulating movement
that minimizes overall footprint while maximizing the efficiency of vertical and
horizontal storage space. The DZ gate can be customized on all three planes.
Wildeck’s Pallet Drop Zone gate is balanced both vertically and horizontally for
smooth operation. The arm geometry is uniquely designed for single or double
pallets up to 72 inches high. This level of design flexibility makes the DZ gate a
preferred solution in racking systems and other environments where space optimization is key, the company says.
The DZ gate can be installed directly onto rack structures, as a rack-mounted
installation, or by itself as a freestanding unit bolted to the deck. Designed in
compliance with OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations, the DZ gate is the best-in-class
solution for facilities looking to protect their personnel and palletized merchandise, the manufacturer says. (Wildeck Inc., www.wildeck.com)
Bar-code inventory management: Dynamic
Systems Inc., a software developer specializing
in traceability and inventory systems, has introduced a new application that uses bar codes to
manage inventory and upload the information
to any accounting system.
Designed for businesses of all sizes, the
Advanced Checkmate Mobile application
records inventory from receiving through storage and shipping, and has a feature to count
inventory and print a discrepancy report. What
this provides is the speed and accuracy of
using bar-code software without the high
cost of implementing a full warehouse system. It is easy to use and provides accurate,
detailed inventory information. The application
is designed to reside on the mobile device and
has middleware that stores the information collected by the scanners or tablets and uploads
the appropriate data to an ERP or accounting
system. It can work in the warehouse, in coolers and freezers, and on the loading dock, providing real-time inventory information.
Key results from implementing the Advanced
Checkmate Mobile System include increased
productivity; the ability to get real-time, accurate inventory reports; elimination of duplicate
data entry; and the ability to invoice at the
time of shipping. (Dynamic Systems, dynamic-systemsinc.com)
Partial load quoting service: Freight shipping
platform provider AuptiX has launched AuptiX
Instant Partial Quoting to provide online freight
quotes for partial truckload shipments in less
than a minute.
According to the company, the standard
industry wait time on a partial truckload
shipment quote is between 20 minutes and
an hour. AuptiX Instant Partial Quoting is
designed to surpass this standard and make
the process as fast as obtaining an LTL (
less-than-truckload) freight quote. Shippers simply
enter the details of their partial shipment, and a
quote will be generated instantly with multiple
pickup and transit-time options. (AuptiX, www.

Less-than-containerload service:
Nonvessel-operating common carrier and ocean freight
consolidators CaroTrans and Nordicon have
launched a weekly less-than-containerload
(LCL) service from New York to Helsinki,
Finland. According to the companies, this
direct ocean transportation solution bypasses
European gateways, which would require extra
freight handling. End-to-end inland services are
available at origin and destination. (Caro Trans,
