Customizable safety gate: Wildeck Inc. has added the Pallet
Drop Zone (DZ) Safety Gate to its family of material handling
products. Equipped with a double-sided gate, the device is
designed to offer maximum protection to workers accessing
large pallet loads at elevated levels.
As one side of the DZ gate is raised, the other closes. This
feature ensures that the elevated ledge is protected at all times,
safeguarding personnel and palletized materials from falls. In
contrast to similar double-sided gate designs, the DZ gate utilizes
more than one pivot point on the pivoting arms. This results in
vertical articulating movement that minimizes overall footprint
while maximizing the efficiency of vertical and horizontal storage
space. The DZ gate can be customized on all three planes.
Wildeck’s Pallet Drop Zone gate is balanced both vertically and
horizontally for smooth operation. The arm geometry is uniquely
designed for single or double pallets up to 72 inches high. This
level of design flexibility makes the DZ gate a preferred solution
in racking systems and other environments where space optimization is key, the company says.
The DZ gate can be installed directly onto rack structures, as
a rack-mounted installation, or by itself as a freestanding unit
bolted to the deck. Designed in compliance with OSHA and
Cal-OSHA regulations, the DZ gate is the best-in-class solution
for facilities looking to protect their personnel and palletized
merchandise, the manufacturer says. (Wildeck Inc., www.

Bar-code readers: Banner Engineering, a developer of technology for industrial automation, has released its ABR Series
imager-based bar-code readers for track-and-trace applications.
ABR Series bar-code readers utilize advanced algorithms to
decode a full library of 1-D and 2-D bar codes, including direct
part marking (DPM), damaged, distorted, and overprinted codes.
Their all-in-one design combines imager, lens, and lighting in
one compact device that can be used in many industrial environments. The readers are available in two compact form factors
with a range of lens and lighting options and multiple resolutions to reliably read small, complex, and challenging bar codes.
Industrial communication options include ethernet, serial, and
USB for seamless integration on the factory floor and Industrial
Internet of Things (IIo T) initiatives.
ABR Series bar-code readers can be configured using the
on-board Smart Teach interface or Banner’s Barcode Manager
software. This free software provides a flowchart programming
environment and a wide range of configuration options, including a one-step process for automatic setup and an advanced
option that provides full access to change and configure device
settings.
The ABR Series can be used to track and trace products,
parts, and components through production and the supply chain
for quality assurance, high-speed process control, work-in-prog-ress monitoring, automated line changeover, sortation, shipping,
and similar applications. (Banner Engineering, www.banner

Trailer rear wing: Rocketail LLC, a manufacturer of advanced
aerodynamic tail systems for semi-trailers, has launched its
Rocketail Wing, a next-generation rear drag reduction technology for trailers. The Rocketail
system is a verified EPA
SmartWay trailer rear fairing
technology for heavy-duty
truck trailers.
Constructed of lightweight
high-impact gas-infused
polymers that are internally cross-braced, the wing-shaped airfoil has a compact
footprint with no additional
external or internal moving
parts. It extends only 14 inches from the rear of the trailer.
The Rocketail Wing is
always deployed using unique
swing-hinges that lock the
wings in their maximum aerodynamic open position each time
the doors are closed. The system shifts the wings flush with the
sides of the trailer each time the doors are opened, allowing the
doors to swing a full 270 degrees without being blocked.
Each Rocketail Wing attaches without guy-wires or struts
with just two industrial-grade stainless steel hinges. Installation,
requiring only drill bits and tightening tools, takes two people
about one hour to complete. Each wing weighs less than 25
pounds and requires minimal to no annual maintenance, the
company says. (Rocketail LLC, www.rocketail.com)
