Akzo Nobel names head of decorative paints
Akzo Nobel has appointed Tex Gunning
managing director
of its decorative
paints business.
Former CEO and
chairman of the
board of Vedior and
a former Unilever
senior executive,
Gunning will be
nominated to join Tex Gunning
the Akzo Nobel
board of management as member
responsible for decorative paints.
Gunning joined Vedior in 2007, successfully completing its negotiated sale to
Randstad in May of this year. Prior to
that, he spent 25 years in a variety of
management positions at Unilever, 15
of them in the Asian and Australasian
markets.
Gunning will succeed David Hamill,
who will leave the company at the end
of the year having played a major role
in the process of combining the ICI and
Akzo Nobel paints business.
PPG NAMES WAGNER GENERAL
MANAGER INDUSTRIAL COATINGS
PPG Industries has appointed
Gregory C.
Wagner general
manager, industrial coatings,
Americas. He
reports to William
A. Wulfsohn, senior vice president,
coatings. Wagner
joined PPG in Gregory Wagner
1979 as a production employee at the Delaware, OH
coatings facility. After college, he
returned to PPG in 1984 as an industrial coatings sales representative.
Wagner progressed through various
PPG management roles in sales marketing, product development and
operations, moving to Paris in 1999
as director, industrial coatings,
Europe, North Africa and the Middle
East. In 2004, Wagner was appointed
general manager, industrial coatings,
Europe, and shortly thereafter he relocated to Cincinnati as general manager, packaging coatings, Americas. In
his new role, Wagner is working at
both PPG’s Milford, OH, facility and
its Pittsburgh headquarters.
RODDA PAINTS MAKES
MANAGEMENT CHANGES
Rodda Paint Company has made several management changes. Jonathan
Knutson has been named Rodda’s
new director of sales. Knutson joined
Rodda Paint in 1982 and most
recently he held the position of district sales manager for Oregon and
southwest Washington. Lis Weller
was named marketing and promotions manager. Weller joined Rodda
Paint in Seattle, WA in 1988.
James Erne has been named district sales manger for Oregon and
southwest Washington. Erne joined
Rodda in 2000.
SUN CHEMICAL NAMES
PETRUCH PRESIDENT
PERFORMANCE PIGMENTS
Sun Chemical Corp. has named
Myron Petruch president, performance pigments. Petruch, who will
oversee Sun Chemical’s entire global
performance pigments business,
joins the company from BASF where
he was responsible for their pigment
and additives business for coatings.
He also held a variety of management positions in Engelhard before
it was acquired by BASF, including
full profit and loss responsibilities
for its global colors business and
global absorbents/chemical catalysts
business.
Sun Chemical also named Brian
Leen president, North American Inks.
In this role, Leen will oversee all of Sun
Chemical’s North American inks businesses including Kohl & Madden,
Rycoline, US Ink and North American
Packaging. In addition to his responsibilities as president of North American
Inks, Leen will also assume the interim
role of president of North American
Packaging.
Leen has worked within Sun
Chemical’s pigment division for 18
years and most recently served as
general manager and vice president
of performance pigments. Leen sits
on the board of directors with the
Color Pigments Manufacturers
Association, Inc. and KVK Denmark.
CHEMTURA APPOINTS ELSBURY
VP GLOBAL MANUFACTURING
Chemtura Corp. has appointed Ken
Elsbury polymer
additives’ vice
president for global manufacturing.
Elsbury comes to
Chemtura from
Scotts Miracle-Gro
Company, where
he served as vice
president of global Ken Elsbury
quality, compliance
and technology transfer.
RPM HIRES INTERNAL
AUDIT DIRECTOR
RPM International has appointed
Thomas D. Gary director of internal
audit. Most recently, Gary served as
director of internal audit for
Mohawk Industries. Gary brings to
RPM an extensive background in
accounting and business along with
more than 32 years of finance, information technology and internal
