Henkel strengthens its adhesives portfolio
Available in white, grey or black, Loctite
5510 adhesive/sealant bonds and seals
simultaneously, fills gaps, resists weather
and moisture, and withstands ongoing
shock and impact.
Loctite 2620 requires short-term exposure
to temperatures over 650°F in order to
remove the nut and bolt with hand tools.
For flexible bonding applications,
Henkel has introduced Loctite 5510
adhesive/sealant and Loctite 5570
adhesive. Resistant to vibration, movement and impact, these permanently
elastic, primerless formulations bond
and seal a wide variety of dissimilar
substrates including metals, glass,
nylon and plastics.
Based on Henkel’s proprietary
FlexTec technology, these one-component, odorless adhesives are non-corro-sive and free of solvents, isocyanates,
silicones and PVC. They cure by reacting with ambient moisture, achieving
functional strength in 24 hours, and are
compatible with many paint systems.
For use on threaded assemblies continuously exposed to extreme temperatures, Henkel has introduced Loctite
2422 and Loctite 2620, two threadlock-ing adhesives formulated to withstand
heat and stress to 650°F.
These anaerobic adhesives are ideal
for use in industrial ovens, heat treatment operations, turbo engines, boiler
rooms, refineries, pulp and paper processing, glass manufacturing and metal
fabrication processes.
AMES’ LIQUID COATING FOR
AIRCRAFT COMPONENTS
Ames Corporation has introduced
AmesShield Coatings for the protection
of aircraft components from the effects
of Foreign Objects Damage (FOD).
Proprietary formulation contains ice-phobic characteristics to resist forming
and facilitating the shedding of ice.
Ideal for applying coatings to metal,
elastomers, plastics and aircraft composite materials, Ames coating capabilities include non-electrostatic and elec-trostatic-based systems capable of
applying uniform thicknesses of coatings ranging from a few microns to 20-
30 milliliters, with typical applications
using 20 layers of . 5 milliliters each.
Ames has developed a method to measure single or dual layer thicknesses of
elastomer coatings at levels in the low
micron range. A wide range of high-performance elastomer formulations such
as fluoroelastomer, silicones and fluo-rosilicones, as well as conventional elastomers for less demanding applications
are offered. Uniform multilayer film
build ensures total coverage and maximum aerodynamic conditions.
WEST SYSTEM BRAND 105 EPOXY
RESIN & 205 FAST HARDENER
West System has introduced Brand 105
Epoxy Resin and 205 Fast Hardener,
which combine to form a material for
making strong structural bonds, applying reinforcing fabrics and barrier coatings that will stand up to harsh marine
environments.
A mixture of five parts 105 Resin to
one part 205 Hardener provides a nine-to 12-minute pot life and 60-70 minutes
of working time as a thin film. It will
wet out and bond with wood, fiberglass,
reinforcing fabrics and metals. This
epoxy cures to a rigid, high-strength,
waterproof solid in six to eight hours at
room temperature and will cure at temperatures as low as 40°F.
AKZONOBEL DEVELOPS GREEN
NON-STICK COATING FOR COOKWARE
AkzoNobel has launched its new environmentally friendly non-stick coating
technology NP². Cookware manufacturer Tramontina is using the NP² technology for its Eco-Friendly Cookware line
of pots and pans, now available in Wal-Mart stores. NP² is the first polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)-free coating to
be launched via a mass-market retailer,
according to the company. NP² is a
patented, polymer-based, silicone-hybrid coating. Traditionally, non-stick
