citric acid; 1%-10% by weight of a halogenated polyolefin; 1%-3% by weight of a
photoinitiator; and a phosphate ester acrylate; so as to improve the adhesion of the
coating composition to both metal and
plastic substrates; the percentages by
weight being based on weight of total resin
solids in the composition.
ulate aluminum oxide or hydrophobic silica
is present in highly dispersed form in the
coating material and the components are selected such that the coating material has a
viscosity of less than 1000 mPas within a
temperature range of 0°C to 90°C.
from the corresponding carboxyl group containing polyester, which is the reaction product of an acid constituent which contains
from 65-100 mole percentage of isophthalic
acid and of a glycol constituent which contains from 20-100 mole percentage of
neopentyl glycol, wherein the (meth)acryloyl
group containing acrylic copolymers are obtained from the corresponding carboxyl
group containing acrylic copolymers, and
wherein the carboxylic group containing
polyester is in admixture with the carboxylic
group containing acrylic copolymer and the
admixture is further reacted with a
monomer having a (meth)acryloyl group
and an epoxy functional group.

least two unsaturated double bonds; 5%-
60% weight of at least one low molecular
weight (meth)acrylate selected from the
group consisting of monofunctional, difunctional, trifunctional and polyfunctional
(meth)acrylate compounds; 0.1%-20%
weight of at least one (meth)acrylate compound different from the first two containing
one or more acidic groups; and 0.1%-20%
weight of at least one auxiliary substance selected from the group consisting of adhesion
promoters different from flow-control
agents, defoaming agents, light stabilizers,
dyes, pigments, biocides, fillers and photoinitiators; wherein 2%- 9.7% weight,
based upon total coating material, of the at
least one low molecular weight (
meth)acrylate is selected from difunctional, trifunctional and polyfunctional (meth)acrylate
compounds; and at least one of nanopartic-

3M wins patent cases in Canada and China
3M Co. patent lawyers scored wins on two continents over its reflective coatings used on
firefighter coats. The Maplewood-based manufacturer said Tuesday that Eurtoex of Canada
was ordered by Federal Court in Ottawa to pay damages to 3M and stop selling products that
3M said infringed on its Scotchlite Reflective Material Fire Coat Trim. 3M also said that a court
in Shanghai ruled last month that Zhejiang Daoming Reflective Materials Co. infringed on one
of 3M's patents related to the same technology.
