RPM International Inc. is a multinational holding company with subsidiaries that manufacture and market high-per- formance coatings, sealants and specialty chemicals, primarily for maintenance, repair and improvement applications. In fiscal
2010, the company’s industrial products accounted for 68 percent
of its $3.4 billion of total sales, with consumer products representing the remainder.
The Industrial Segment’s operating groups include RPM Building
Solutions Group, which provides roofing systems, sealants and concrete admixtures. Leading brands include Tremco, Tremco illbruck and
Euco. RPM Performance Coatings Group includes polymer floor coatings, corrosion control coatings and fiberglass reinforced plastic grating. Its primary brands include Stonhard, Carboline and Fibergrate.
RPM II Group offers specialty chemicals, exterior insulation and finish systems and recreational marine coatings. Major brands include
Day-Glo, Dryvit, Kop-Coat and Pettit.
RPM’s consumer products are sold primarily in North America
and have a growing presence in Europe, predominantly in the UK.
The Consumer Segment’s operating groups include Rust-Oleum
Group, which provides rust-preventative and small project paints,
primer-sealers, wallcovering preparation and removal products,
wood stains and finishes, mildew resistant paints and hobbyist products. Major brands include Rust-Oleum, Zinsser, Varathane, Tor
and Testors. DAP Group markets caulks, sealants and patch and repair products under the DAP brand.
During the year RPM’s Performance Coatings Group acquired
Hummervoll Industribelegg AS, a supplier and installer of industrial flooring coatings systems based in Bergen, Norway, with annual sales of more than $11 million. Hummervoll, founded in 1980
by Per Hummervoll, serves both onshore and offshore markets with
its concrete- and epoxy-based flooring coatings systems. Its onshore
division primarily focuses on the food, manufacturing and chemical
industries. The offshore division provides flooring solutions for oil
platforms, barricade decks and emergency escape routes.
Zinsser launched its Bondz Maximum Adhesion Primer, specifically formulated to bond any topcoat to difficult to paint surfaces.
The fast drying urethane modified acrylic formula provides adhesion to hard, dense interior and exterior surfaces such as fiberglass,
tile, glazed brick, aluminum, laminate and galvanized steel. It creates
a permanent bond with any topcoat including two-part epoxies and
solvent-based paints.
One of RPM’s businesses, Tremco Incorporated, underwent a
“green” renovation at its company headquarters in Beachwood,
Ohio/USA. Originally built in 1970, the $5 million top-to-bottom
renovation will transform the building into a showcase of sustainability. Tremco intends that its headquarters become one of the U.S.
Green Building Council’s few LEED Gold certified facilities in Ohio.
Another highlight during the year occurred when for the sixth
consecutive year, DAP Products Inc., received the Golden Hammer
Award as the premier supplier in the Caulking and Sealants category by Home Channel News.

coating system
Rust-Oleum has introduced Countertop Transformations, do-it-yourself (DIY) decorative coating system that can replicate the look
of sought-after countertop materials like natural stone. The coating

the need to hire a

mess associated
with countertop replacement. It also
can be used on
bathroom vanities,
bar tops, tabletops
and more. Countertop Transformations
is available in a variety of on-trend finishes to complement
any décor, including
Pebbled Ivory, Desert
Sand, Java Stone,
Onyx and Charcoal. It stands up to daily wear and tear, the company
said, and features HomeShield Antimicrobial Protection to protect
the painted surface by inhibiting the growth of mold, mildew and
other odor or stain-causing microbes.
