promotes technology that provides substantial environmental benefits using
green chemistry. BioAmber’s platform was
recognized as the leading technology in
the field of succinic acid. BioAmber is the
first company to successfully commercialize a biobased chemical that directly substitutes its petro-chemical equivalent.
BioAmber’s succinic acid platform delivers environmentally sound, cost-effective
performance materials that can replace
petrochemicals in a wide range of applications, including adipic-based polyurethanes,
phthalate-based plasticizers and acetate-based deicing solutions. BioAmber’s technology produces succinic acid that competes
on cost with fossil fuel derived succinic acid
when oil prices are well below $40 per barrel. The technology also sequesters carbon
dioxide rather than emitting it.
Cytec opens production line for
Cyasorb Cynergy Solutions
Stabilizers in Shanghai
Cytec Industries Inc. announced that a
new production line for Cyabsorb Cynergy Solutions stabilizers will be set up in
Cytec’s manufacturing site in Fengxian,
Shanghai, China. The start up of the new
production line is expected in the first
quarter of 2012. The production of Cyabsorb UV-3853 light stabilizer monomeric
hindered amine light stabilizer will also
be increased.
“The addition of this production line for
Cyabsorb Cynergy Solutions will allow our
customers in Asia Pacific, and particularly
in China, to get faster supply of our high
performance UV stabilizers,” said
Domenico Romanino, global business director polymer additives. “The new line will
produce, among other products, Cyabsorb
Cynergy Solutions V703 stabilizer, the most
recent UV stabilization solution for Automotive TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) compounds. This investment, in conjunction
with the already announced manufacturing
expansions in Willow Island, WV, represents an important commitment to our customers and to their need for high
performance UV protection solutions.”
Emerald to increase capacity of
colorant product line
Emerald Performance Materials Specialties
Group has increased capacity of its Hilton
Davis Lake Colorant product line in
Cincinnati, Ohio/USA. Emerald Hilton
Davis produces colorants in several forms
at its Cincinnati location, which has manufactured colorants for nearly 90 years. The
different types of colorants include dyes,
lakes and dispersions. These are used in a
wide variety of applications ranging from
food and beverage applications, personal
care and household products to graphic arts
and printing applications, varnish, deck
stains and paint. “Each type of colorant
technology is designed and tailored for a
specific end-use,” said Jenny S. Smith, business manager for Emerald Specialties.
“Lakes are a water-insoluble form of dye
used to provide vibrant, high strength color
in food applications. These provide color in
applications such as bakery and confections
as they are soluble in oil and butter, and
thus prevent undesirable color-bleed.”
