New Ross Model CDA-30C dual-shaft mixer
Ross has introduced the new Model
CDA-30C Portable Dual Shaft Mixer
with a working capacity of 10 to 30 gallons. An air/oil hydraulic lift raises and
lowers the agitators, a 3HP Two-Wing
Anchor and a 5HP high speed disperser.
Because each agitator is independently
controlled, the system is extremely versatile in terms of fine-tuning shear levels
and flow patterns over a wide viscosity range. Typical applications include
pastes, gels, suspensions, slurries and
other viscous dispersions.
The vacuum-rated mix can is jacketed for heating and cooling purposes. To ensure superior heat transfer,
hinged Teflon scrapers are attached to
the wings of the anchor agitator for
wiping the sidewalls and cone-shaped
vessel bottom. A Type J thermoprobe
installed on the mixer cover extends to
the center of the batch for highly accurate temperature monitoring.
Temperature, speeds, vacuum level
and other readouts are located in the
NEMA 4X Purged Operator Control
Panel. The CDA-30C is mounted on a
stainless steel support frame with locking casters designed for complete por-tability and stability when in use.
Troy Introduces Troysol
382 Wetting Additive for
Surface Tension Reduction
Troy Corporation recently introduced Troysol 382, a multifunctional,
silicone-free wetting additive that
promotes strong dynamic surface tension reduction in aqueous systems,
resulting in excellent wetting and application characteristics, according to
the company.
The use of Troysol 382 also promotes
foam reduction and the elimination of
surface defects, such as cratering, crawling and fisheyes. Representing a direct
response to the needs of industry, the new
performance wetting additive offers manufacturers of coatings, inks and adhesives
the ability to improve high speed application properties and gives them the flexibility to incorporate the product at any
stage of the production process.
Union Process Builds
SD- 50 Attritor for Ceramic
Industry
Union Process, Inc. has manufactured
a dry grinding SD- 50 Attritor for a customer in the advanced ceramics industry. The SD- 50 dry grinding Attritor
was designed with a special two-piece
cover with brush seal for dust control.
The Attritor was fabricated with custom cover connections, which allow
the mill to easily interface with the customer’s dry material conveying system,
according to the firm.
The SD- 50 Attritor features a 304 SS
grinding tank which is jacketed for cooling to aid in temperature control during the dry milling process. The mill is
powered by an explosion-proof 50 HP
high-starting torque motor. The system
includes a dual meter station that displays RPM and amperage all mounted
on the Attritor in a NEMA 7/9 enclosure.
The Attritor is also mounted on a custom
designed frame riser, which allows the
processed material to be discharged into
containers for final packaging.
MCLLC Unveils EcoCare
ASA, Bio-based Dispersing
Agent for Paints
Manufacturers Chemicals LLC
(MCLLC) has developed a new dispersing agent / anti-settling aid that
can be used in water-based formulations of paint and other dispersions.
The new product, EcoCare ASA, is
based entirely on vegetable based materials. ASA is an effectives grinding
aid and dispersant. ASA also acts as an
anti-settling compound that facilitates
improved remixing. This unique chemistry suppresses foam and will eliminate the need for additional antifoams
in some formulations, according to the
company. It also acts as a surfactant to
facilitate spread and penetration onto
dry surfaces.
EcoCare ASA is non-VOC. EcoCare
ASA is the most recent addition to the
EcoCare family of products developed
from plant and vegetable material
streams. MCLLC has developed proprietary methods to make chemicals from
vegetables and animal byproducts.
Imerys Launches
ImExtend14CCL Ultra-fine
Calcium Carbonate for
Powder Coatings
Imerys Minerals has launched
ImExtend 14CCL, a new ultra-fine
calcium carbonate developed for the
powder coatings market. ImExtend
14CCL is an addition to the ImExtend
brand family. This new product has
been developed for formulators and
manufacturers of powder coatings
for household appliances. It enables
potential savings of titanium dioxide
(TiO2) with no negative effect on other
properties such flow rate and hardness,
according to the company.
A study conducted by the Powder
Coating Research Group (PCR), demonstrated that ImExtend 14CCL has
shown good results as a titanium dioxide extender. The research found that a
substitution of up to 20 percent in the
volume of TiO2 with ImExtend 14CCL
was possible without loss of opacity
and it had minimal impact on other
performances. CW
