Eclipse Aerospace Flying High with Sherwin-Williams SKYscapes GA Coatings
Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings announced that its complete SKYscapes General Aviation (GA) Basecoat Polyurethane
Enamel system has been added to the QPL (Qualified Products
List) for ONE Aviation’s new Eclipse 550 and Eclipse 500 SE (
Special Edition) factory renewed aircraft.
Eclipse Aerospace is part of ONE Aviation aerospace company and is run by a team of industry pioneers dedicated to engineering the most compelling aircraft for the modern traveler.
The Eclipse 550 Jet is a redesigned, reengineered twin-engine aircraft from the company that continues to build
one of the world’s personal jets. The Eclipse 550 has the
high-tech features of aircraft costing millions more but is
built using innovative techniques that drive quality up and
manufacturing costs down. The SKYscapes GA system is
also used on the Eclipse SE twin-engine jet, a factory-re-newed Eclipse 500 which has been substantially upgraded
and reconfigured to include nearly all new features introduced on the new Eclipse 550.
“We utilize the complete SKYscapes GA basecoat/clearcoat
system on both our new aircraft production and our factory
refurbished aircraft. The latter are repainted as trade-ins or
purchased off the secondary market. In addition to complete
“makeovers” for the interiors, they receive an entirely new paint
job, and the Sherwin-Williams system makes them look spectacular,” said Alexis Artery, Ph. D., Vice President of Production
for Eclipse Aerospace.
Ideal for exterior painting on general aviation and premium
business aircraft that often require expedited production times,
the Sherwin-Williams’ SKYscapes GA Basecoat 855 Series – SG,
SGE, SGM and SGP colors – is designed to deliver the maximum in appearance and productivity by delivering a consistent
and colorful solid, mica or metallic finish.
SKYscapes GA Basecoat features fast dry times (
approximately 60 – 90 minutes DTT) that lead to improved productivity,
a simple mix ratio, all while delivering excellent flow and leveling. After clearcoat, it provides a high gloss finish that can be
easily cleaned, buffed and repaired.
Other Sherwin-Williams products within the system utilized
by Eclipse include:
• CM0483787 Chrome Hazard Free Epoxy Primer for alumi-
num areas of the aircraft
•CM0480922 Spread n’ Spray Primer, CM0481030 Com-
