Sartomer Americas, a business unit of Arkema Inc., has launched CN9302 dual-cure urethane acrylate oligomer.
The CN9302 oligomer delivers both acrylate and isocyanate functionality. The reactive isocyanate gives UV/EB formulations
a secondary cure of shadowed areas with
ambient moisture, which results in enhanced
coating performance.
The CN9302 oligomer can be used in
UV/EB-curable, two-part urethane, and
dual-cure formulations. It offers low color
and low viscosity, while also providing exceptional adhesion and resistance to abrasions and chemicals. Additional benefits of
formulating with the CN9302 oligomer
include coating toughness and pigment
wetting for better distribution in liquids.
These combined features and performance
properties make the oligomer excellent
for conformal coatings and other high-performance coatings on metal, plastic,
and wood surfaces. It can also be used
to improve the cure and performance of
laminating adhesives, pressure-sensitive
adhesives, and screen printing inks.
AkzoNobel’s New
Surfactant Meets Stringent
U.S. EPA Standards
AkzoNobel has launched an essential new
ingredient for outdoor cleaning products
which successfully meets stringent U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
environmental standards without compromising on performance.
Developed by the company’s Surface
Chemistry business, Berol DR-B1 is suitable for both consumer and commercial
applications that involve direct release
(by-passing sewage treatment).
Suitable for a wide range of outdoor
applications where very low environmental impact is a priority, the main uses for
Berol DR-B1 are expected to include the
cleaning of mass transit vehicles such as
trains and buses, car washes and exterior
house and garden furniture cleaning.
“As our cities become more populated,
we have to ensure that they remain inspiring and comfortable places to live
and work,” said AB Ghosh, managing director of AkzoNobel’s Surface Chemistry
business. “We therefore have a responsibility to make them as safe and healthy as
possible by reducing the added stress that
extra cleaning puts on our environment.”
Dymax Introduces
BlueWave MX-150 LED
Spot-Curing System
Dymax Corporation has introduced the
BlueWave MX-150 – a new smaller LED
spot-curing system with unique curing flexibility. The system can be used as a bench-top
unit or integrated into an automated system,
and its LED emitters are available in 365,
385, or 405 nm wavelengths.
In addition to providing curing flexibility,
the Blue Wave MX-150 is also uniquely designed to offer higher, more consistent curing
intensities than traditional spot-curing systems. Located at the point of cure, this system’s curing energy is created using an LED
chip in the emitter to provide more consistent curing by eliminating the potential loss
of intensity caused by long or bent light-guides. Furthermore, with this new design,
the emitter can be easily mounted to robotic
arms or mounted further from the controller
without fear of intensity variations.
Datacolor Launches 20D
Spectrophotometer for
Retail Paint Color Matching
Datacolor has announced the launch of
the Datacolor 20D, a portable spectrophotometer designed especially for
paint retailers and hardware stores.
Combined with the new Datacolor
PAINT v. 2.x software, Datacolor
20D provides industry leading color
matching accuracy for paint and coat-
ing applications. This highly accurate
spectrophotometer yields the best first
shot color matches on the market, in-
creasing productivity, cost savings and
customer satisfaction. Datacolor 20D
Datacolor 20D’s intuitive user in-
terface features a modern and easy-to-
navigate large color LCD display, in
addition to Bluetooth and USB connec-
tivity, allowing for the seamless transfer
of color data from the spectrophotom-
eter to the Datacolor PAINT v. 2.x soft-
ware. The instrument also includes an
LED illuminated viewing port, allowing
users to very precisely position samples
to assure accurate measurement.
Ross Introduces Pilot-Scale
Double Planetary Mixers
Ross Double Planetary Mixers are offered
in 4-, 5- and 10- and 25-gallon models for
pilot-scale production of paste-like mate-
rials, highly-filled putties, shear-sensitive
gels, granulations and dense powder
blends. These mixers are also used for
vacuum drying of heat-sensitive applica-
tions at relatively low temperatures.
Available is a Ross Model DPM- 4 with
High Viscosity “HV” Blades ideal for heavy-
duty mixing of viscous materials up to 6
million centipoise. The helical curve and
graduated down-thrust cross-section of the
HV Blades prevent product from climbing
up into the cover. The stirrers pass through
every point in the vessel, promoting very
thorough mixing as well as uniform tem-
perature by constantly exchanging materials
near the vessel’s jacketed sidewalls. Vacuum
capability allows users to remove air from
the batch before starting the agitators or
during the mixing cycle, leading to smooth
void-free finished products without the need
for additional defoaming or deaeration
post-mixing.
Laboratory models start from half-pint
size up to 2 gallons. Full-scale production
models range from 40 to 1,000 gallons.CW
