Chief commercial officer Dr. Markus Steilemannsteppeddown as head of the Polyurethanes
segment, a position he’s held since
2016, Covestro
announced.
Steilemann, who
started his career
at Bayer in 1999,
is in line to succeed
Patrick Thomas as
Covestro’s CEO, according to Dr. Frank
Rothbarth, external
communications.
In 2004, Steilemann moved to Bayer’s
MaterialScience subgroup, which now
operates independently under the name
Covestro.
Previously, Steilemann held various management positions in the
Polycarbonates segment in Asia, including a stint as head of Global Industrial
Marketing.
He was the head of the entire
Polycarbonates segment from 2013
to 2015 before being appointed to
Covestro’s Board of Management.
Daniel Meyer, the head of the
Coatings, Adhesives, Specialties segment since 2011, will be promoted in
Steilemann’s place. Michael Friede will
take over for Meyer.
David P. Reif, III Appointed
President of RPM’s
Industrial Segment
RPM International
Inc. announced
that David P. Reif,
III, formerly group
president of the
RPM Performance
Coatings Group,
has been appointed
president – RPM
Industrial Segment.
In this role, Reif
will provide strategic direction to
RPM’s Industrial Segment businesses
and will report to RPM’s President
and Chief Operating Officer Ronald
A. Rice.
Reif began his career at KPMG Peat
Marwick in 1975 and joined Stonhard,
Inc. in 1986 as executive vice president
and chief financial officer and a minority
owner. RPM acquired Stonhard in 1993.
Since that time, Reif has served as chief
financial officer of RPM, president of its
StonCor Group of operating companies,
and in June of 2000 was appointed president and CEO of the RPM Performance
Coatings Group.
Related to this appointment, RPM
had previously announced that Mark
A. Greaves was promoted to president
of The Euclid Group. In this capacity,
Greaves leads a group of specialty construction chemical businesses with globally recognized brands including Euco,
Flowcrete, Vandex and Viapol.
Additionally, RPM announced the
promotion of David C. Dennsteadt to
group president of the RPM Performance
Coatings Group, a collection of companies that are global leaders in industrial
high-performance coatings and waterproofing products including Carboline,
Stonhard, USL and Fibergrate.
Both Dennsteadt and Greaves will report to Reif in his capacity as president
- RPM Industrial Segment.
Heminger Joins PPG Board
of Directors
PPG announced that Gary R. Heminger,
chairman and CEO of Marathon
Petroleum Corporation, has been elected
to join its board of directors, effective
immediately. He will serve on the PPG
board’s audit committee and its nominating and governance committee.
Heminger has been chairman of
Marathon Petroleum Corporation since
April 2016 and its chief executive officer
Corporation is one
of the largest inde-
pendent petroleum
product refining,
marketing, retail
and pipeline trans-
portation compa-
nies in the United
States and its
Speedway subsid-
iary owns and operates one of the na-
tion’s largest convenience store chains.
Heminger has spent over 40 years
in a variety of leadership, financial and
marketing positions with Marathon.
He served as president of Marathon
Petroleum Corporation from July
2011 to July 2017 and in January
2011, was appointed to the board
of directors of Marathon Petroleum
Corporation. From September 2001
to July 2011, Heminger served as
both executive vice president – downstream, Marathon Oil Corporation
and as president of Marathon
Petroleum Company LLC. Previously,
he served in a variety of executive
level operational, marketing and business development roles.
Since June 2012, Heminger has also
served as chairman of the board and
chief executive officer of MPLX GP LLC,
a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of
Marathon Petroleum Corporation and
the general partner of MPLX LP, a consolidated master limited partnership
formed to own and operate midstream
energy infrastructure assets.
Heminger has served on the board of
directors of Fifth Third Bancorp since
2006 and serves on the boards of directors and executive committees of the
American Petroleum Institute (since
2011) and of the American Fuel &
Petrochemical Manufacturers. He is an
emeritus trustee of the board of trustees
at Tiffin University, serving as a trustee
beginning in 1991 and as chairman from
1996 to 2014. CW
