ENHANCED CONFERENCE PROGRAM

In addition to the exhibition, an extensive educational conference will run concurrently with the show. The conference will include three keynotes and over 70 supplier-led seminars covering the latest manufacturing and supply chain trends, technologies, and innovations.

In Monday’s opening keynote, Rick Blasgen, chief executive officer of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), will discuss the importance of supply chain management, the trends CSCMP is seeing around the world, and how global supply chains drive change. During his speech, scheduled from 8: 45 a.m. to 9: 45 a.m., Blasgen will also discuss talent within the supply chain field and how to deal with today’s economic challenges and competitive pressures.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 8: 45 a.m. to 9: 45 a.m., Alberto Alemán Zubieta, chief executive officer of the Panama Canal Authority, will speak on the expansion of the Panama Canal and its impact on supply chains and global trade. Scheduled for completion in 2014, the expansion is expected to alter patterns of trade and provide incentives to East and Gulf Coast ports to deepen harbors and expand cargo-handling facilities. Donald Ratliff, executive director of Georgia Tech’s Supply Chain & Logistics Institute, will speak about how supply chain and logistics performance impacts international trade on Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 8: 45 a.m. to 9: 45 a.m. During this keynote, Ratliff will offer insights into what elements of supply chain and logistics performance need improvement and how to make improvements that will boost exports.

The education conference also features more than 70 seminars on a broad array of manufacturing, distribution, and supply chain topics, including trends, best practices, and the latest developments in equipment and technology for manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and supply chain management.

These seminars will be presented in theaters located on the show floor. This format allows attendees to learn about various manufacturing, distribution, and supply chain solutions in the educational sessions and then actually see the equipment, systems, and services that can implement those solutions.
