spurt, introducing new products in line with customer desires.
Big Ass Fans were originally designed for agriculture settings, and quickly customized
their products for use in industrial settings to help regulate temperatures and provide
comfort, enhancing both natural ventilation and HVAC systems. Ranging in size from
6- to 24-ft in diameter, Big Ass Fans are not your ordinary fans, and the Big Ass Fan Company
is not your ordinary company.
As the recipient of the 2011 Inc. Magazine “New Economy Hero”
award, Big Ass Fans’ owner and president, Carey Smith, was
recognized for promoting his company through a recession. By
looking to the future, Smith continued to invest in his employees as
well as dedicate time, money and research to the development of
new products. As a result, Big Ass Fans has increased their product
line to include residential, mobile and outdoor wet-rated fans.

Along with a comprehensive library of installations from agriculture
to industrial, residential to commercial, Big Ass Fans has amassed
numerous awards for both product design and a favorable work
environment 5 years running. In 2011 Christian Taber, senior applications
engineer, was awarded Consulting Specifying Engineer’s 40 Under
40 Award for excellence in engineering and service. Taber is a
member of Big Ass Fans engineering team that develops and tests the
company’s portfolio of large diameter, low-speed fans.
Continued ISO certification reinforcing our commitment to overall
product integrity is on par with the Pacesetter Recognition Award
spotlighting companies that lead the community. Along with
providing LEED® credits for applications when Big Ass Fans are
installed, we practice what we preach with our own LEED Gold
Certified Research and Development facility which won the ASHRAE
(American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air- Conditioning
Engineers) Technical Award for innovative building design, incorporating
occupant comfort, IAQ and energy conservation.
