Crane scale: Alliance Scale Inc. has introduced a wireless crane scale that features a Bluetooth
handheld indicator that can operate at distances of up to 300 feet and has a bright, high-contrast display for easy viewing.
The Alliance/CAS Caston II Plus Crane Scale and TWN handheld indicator let users stand
safely away from the heavy load and control operations and view results on a high-contrast
320 by 240 TFT LCD display. Featuring on-board memory for 100 items and 5,000 transactions, including time, date, and gross weight, this Bluetooth handheld indicator has a built-in
rechargeable battery and a USB port for connecting to a PC, laptop, or printer.
Available in three capacities ( 1,000 by 0.5 pounds, 2,000 by one pound, and 5,000 by two
pounds), the Alliance/CAS Caston II Plus Crane Scale operates on 6 VDC and includes a spare
rechargeable battery pack and charger. Weighing only 37. 5 pounds, it has a heavy-duty swivel
hook for optimum maneuverability. (Alliance Scale Inc., www.alliancescale.com)
Shelf cart: Creform has designed and built a simple shelf cart for use
in complex production environments. The cart is used to kit parts, tools,
and supplies to support special project production. It allows an associate
to pull parts and supplies from the warehouse storage area, organize
them into a useful arrangement, and move them into a production or
project area.
The simple design allows companies to organize only the parts they
need and helps minimize production floor space dedicated to inventory.
It keeps items easily accessible, and the simple shelf design allows for
seamless changeover when going from one project to another.
The cart features three shelves that are lightweight yet strong, with
corrugated plastic surfaces. The shelves can hold packaged parts as well
as parts without packaging. Each shelf can be repositioned with simple tools.
A custom white board ( 12 by 36 inches) is centered over the cart and allows for specific
direction that needs to be given to the associate. The section of Creform pipe next to the white
board provides a convenient “holster” to hold and store a marker or writing device.
The cart features four four-inch-diameter casters with rubber wheels for easy, stable, and
safe movement. Two of the casters have brakes for secure positioning. The device, which has
a 28- by 38-inch compact footprint, can hold up to 450 pounds. Custom sizes and higher load
capacities are available.
Options include label holders, hooks, and clipboards. The cart is available as a kit or assembled structure or in component form for complete DIY solutions. (Creform, www.creform.com)
Wireless hour and alarm meter: Keytroller has unveiled the Cyberwatch LAN, a simple,
inexpensive, and easy-to-install wireless hour and alarm meter.
For locations where a Wi-Fi network connection is accessible, the Cyberwatch LAN provides
monitoring on any piece of equipment with no monthly service cost. Users can monitor usage,
idling, maintenance needs, and alerts (such as low fuel). The product also has optional sensors
for monitoring impacts, voltage, temperature, and more. In addition, the device handles a wide
variety of sophisticated encryption schemes.
Users can connect to the device, which is embedded with its own Web browser and IP
address, through the Wi-Fi network to view data from a tablet, cellphone, or computer.
Automatic e-mails can be programmed with usage and alarm reporting.
The internal and external wireless access point and network settings are configured using
a Web browser accessing the device’s internal Web server. This is possible using the internal
access point and the external wireless network infrastructure connection. Real-time values of
the hour meters and counters can be seen at any time by direct wireless access to the device.
In forklift applications, the Cyberwatch LAN can be attached to four different inputs on a
forklift (plus input power connection from the forklift to power it). Each input will record hours/
minutes of usage when the input goes “high.” Alternatively, the installer can simply attach the
device to input power and enable the vibration counter, which will count hours as the forklift
is in use and vibrating. All data will be sent out via e-mail through the client’s Wi-Fi network
to the same e-mail location. Once received, the e-mails can be “scraped” and the data string
removed, so that a separate programming script can be written to deposit the hour-meter
usage data into a maintenance scheduling software application or into an Excel spreadsheet.
