Hulk Kombo Dock: Designed for facilities
with limited loading dock space, the Hulk
Kombo Dock from Kelley offers the flexibility
of a scissors lift and the efficiency of a
hydraulic dock leveler. With a vertical
range of up to 60 inches, the
Kombo Dock is able to load and
unload nearly any type of vehicle
that pulls into the loading dock
area, the manufacturer says.
Design highlights include a
hydraulic dock leveler with regenerative
hydraulics, independent powered lip control,
and push-button controls. The dock leveler
can be equipped with an Energy Guard
perimeter seal for additional energy savings.
The independent hydraulic scissors lift has a
lifting capacity of up to 20,000 pounds and
enables dock-to-grade forklift access. The
Kombo Dock also includes quick-connect
style electrical cables with NEMA 4x hand
control for fast and simple installation. The
device can be interlocked with dock doors,
vehicle restraints, and other equipment via a
master control panel to ensure a safe and reli-
able sequence of operation.
Safety features include Automatic Return
to Dock and an audible alarm with a flashing
yellow strobe light that activates when the
Kombo Dock is not fully stored. Safety velocity fuses on the leveler and lift prevent an
uncontrolled descent. (Kelley, www.kelley-company.com)
Intelligent Machine Health Monitoring
system: The new Intelligent Machine Health
Monitoring (IMHM) system from Sapient
Automation is designed to remotely check the
operational health of a horizontal carousel system. The system allows Sapient Automation’s
COP (Customer One Protection) Service Group
to respond prior to a failure. IMHM is standard
and free on all Hornet horizontal carousels and
is available for all other horizontal carousels,
regardless of manufacturer and age.
Key information is monitored 24/7 in real
time by the COP service group for variances
and anomalies that could lead to failure or
performance issues. The moment the IMHM
system detects anything out of the ordinary, a
message is sent to the local COP technician
and the central COP service monitoring group
for immediate response. Depending on the
issue, the facility service coordinator is contacted and a plan for correcting the issue is
discussed and executed.
The IMHM system remotely monitors critical
thresholds, actual carousel usage, picks, run
time, energy consumption levels, and more.

“Van-On-Demand” EDI service: EDI Associates has introduced Van-On-Demand,
a Web-based electronic data interchange (EDI) service with no contracts, no minimum usage requirements, and no commitments. Designed as an affordable alternative for small and mid-sized businesses, the service gives users with simpler needs
access to the benefits of EDI on a pay-as-you-go basis. Customers are billed only for
what they use, with no minimums.
The system currently supports all X12 documents over an FTP connection and will
soon be expanded to accommodate EDIFACT documents along with AS2 and SFTP
communications. (EDI Associates, www.ediassociates.com)
