Trak3 xD/xL pick-to-light systems:
Intelligrated has announced the
release of the Real Time Solutions
Trak3 xD and Trak3 xL extended display pick-to-light systems. The systems are suitable for dense-flow rack
picking-and-put applications or general merchandise operations that
require dynamic slotting of products
of a wide variety of sizes.
Trak3 xD extended display pick-to-light systems provide end-to-end shelf coverage for a dynamic pick face. The Trak3 xD system can slot products with widths
ranging from one inch to several feet and features dual-shelf configuration for
independent upper and lower shelf slotting. These capabilities allow the Trak3 xD
system to maximize SKU density, reduce storage cost per SKU, and increase picks
per foot, says the company. The system also has multicolor hardware, which
allows multiple order fillers to work in a single zone and enables multiple orders
to be filled simultaneously.
In conjunction with the Trak3 xD system, Intelligrated also offers the Trak3 xL, a
companion device that automatically adjusts replenishment slotting based on pick
face changes, dramatically increasing replenishment accuracy.
Through Real Time Solutions order fulfillment software, these systems provide
the capability to automatically or manually slot product based on SKU velocities
and physical space availability. Managing stores and SKUs in real time, the software also dynamically allocates product from the receiving dock and allows supervisors to manage multi-picker work flows and track individual order filler productivity. (Intelligrated, www.intelligrated.com)

Resistance Detection System (RDS) now being
offered as a standard feature on the electric
Kardex Remstar Kompakt Mobile Storage
System provides improved safety, according to
the company. The Kompakt Mobile Storage
System consists of new or existing shelving,
racks, or cabinets mounted to carriages. With a
push of a button, the carriages automatically
open to provide access to stored items and
then automatically close to reduce overall storage space by up to 65 percent.
The RDS is a passive safety system that automatically stops carriage movement whenever
there is pressure on any of the unit’s moving
parts. By stopping the carriages from moving, it
prevents the storage system from closing on

pi pallet: Pallets International has introduced
the “pi pallet,” a lightweight, wood-corrugat-ed composite pallet. The pi pallet is lighter
than wood ( 16 pounds vs. 45 or more), yet is
able to hold similar loads. The manufacturer
says that for air-freight and less-than-truckload
shippers, who pay by weight, the pi pallet pays
for itself on the first use through fuel-related
savings.
The eco-friendly unit is both reusable and
recyclable. For damaged pi pallets, Pallets
International offers replacement corrugated
sleeves that serve as a quick repair mechanism,
