When a major southern California theme park was out of space in one of their warehouses, they redesigned it, committed to the design, and obtained all of the necessary California permits to begin renovation. With all of that completed Victor Barbosa, with Toyota-Lift of Los Angeles, was called into action to recommend the best narrow aisle reach truck to work in the planned 8’ aisles.

Victor met with key theme park warehouse personnel and explained to them that reach trucks today are not capable of operating in 8’ aisles. Victor then quickly provided them with a solution that absolutely would work – one that would provide the necessary number of pallet positions without requiring a complete redesign of their warehouse to accommodate a reach truck. Victor’s solution? A new Flexi articulating forklift truck!

Not only did the Flexi provide the customer with the amount of storage capacity they needed in this warehouse, Victor’s solution also reduced the amount of equipment required had they chosen a reach truck instead. A conventional truck would have also been needed to unload trailers and stage the goods for the reach truck. The good news was that the Flexi performs both jobs, trailer to rack, and it created additional storage space when the planned staging area was racked. Additionally, using a Flexi instead of a reach truck and a truck at the dock resulted in greater productivity by eliminating double handling of the product and it reduced the risk of product damage that goes hand-in-hand with each separate movement of a load.

A longtime member of the customer’s warehouse team was responsible for making the operational transition from his conventional forklift truck to the new Flexi. He accomplished this with ease with a little bit of preparation before delivery and a little bit of practice afterwards.
