Fox IV 5410 label printer: The 5410 Mini Label Printer
Applicator from Fox IV Technologies is designed to provide a
cost-effective, space-saving solution for low-throughput applications, according to the company. The printer integrates Zebra’s
RFID-Ready 110 Xi4 printer into a rugged, industrial frame that
measures only 18 inches long by 12. 5 inches deep. It has a 10-inch OD label roll and
offers most of the same features as Fox IV’s full-sized 5410 Standard unit.
The 5410 Mini has silk-screened media paths to shorten downtime, swing-away
cylinders for easy access, intuitive user displays, and dynamic rewind tension control. The printer’s features include a 32-bit 133 MHz RISC print processor for faster
throughput and processing, 16 MB SDRAM memory for printing longer label formats, up to 256 MB of CompactFlash memory for added label format and font
storage, 8 MB of non-volatile Flash memory, and 300 unique darkness settings.
The unit can print on either thermal transfer or direct thermal label stock at 203
or 300 dpi, has a maximum print width of 4 inches, and is capable of high-quality printing at speeds of up to 10 inches per second. (Fox IV Technologies Inc.,

RailBoss scale: Rice Lake Weighing Systems has introduced the RailBoss, a scale
that’s integrated directly into the rail itself to minimize space requirements. The unit
installs quickly, at roughly one-third the cost of conventional railroad scale designs,
according to the company. As a result, manufacturing sites, distributors, and agricultural operations now can afford to install their own in-house railroad scale for
stationary weight verification of rail cars and other non-legal-for-trade needs.
RailBoss pairs with Rice Lake’s 920i Programmable Indicator/Controller and
RailBoss software to offer scale capacities of up to 320,000 pounds. The system is
available in either eight-section full-draft systems or simpler four-section double-draft models. (Rice Lake Weighing Systems, www.ricelake.com)

RapidPick fulfillment system: Dematic has
introduced RapidPick, a solution designed for
high-performance split-case order fulfillment.
The RapidPick system is engineered to deliver
split-case items to an operator in a configuration that allows pick rates of up to 1,000 line
items per operator per hour. Because only one
SKU is presented to the operator at a time in
the desired sequence, the system enables high
pick accuracy, according to Dematic.
The RapidPick System is made up of modular
mechanized components: replenishment stations, pick stations, racking, and the inventory-staging buffer module. The software manages
the SKU inventory replenishment and order fulfillment processes, including monitoring the staff.
The RapidPick System is compact, with a footprint that’s typically 30 to 65 percent smaller than
that of other systems. The high-density cube utilization is achieved using an inventory staging
buffer module called the Dematic Multishuttle.
The Multishuttle is made up of carriers that travel in a modular rack structure, typically with one
carrier on each level, accessing the inventory on
both sides, single or double deep.
The RapidPick System, which is engineered
as a modular and scalable solution, can
improve an operation’s flexibility, according to
Dematic. If order volume increases, the customer can expand the system by adding more
pick station modules, Multishuttle carriers, and
racking. (Dematic, www.dematic.us)
Michelin XZA3+ Evertread tire:
Michelin has introduced the XZA3+
Evertread steer tire, a tire designed for
trucking fleets and owner-operators
who want to get more miles out of
their steer tires while still saving fuel.
This EPA SmartWay-verified steer tire
delivers fuel savings while also guaranteeing 30-percent more miles in long-haul
applications, the company says.
According to Michelin, the XZA3+ Evertread
tire has a longer wear life because of Michelin’s
new generation of Co-Ex Technology, the Dual
Compound Tread. This technology allows tire
designers to utilize multiple rubber compounds
at different places in the tread. One compound is
specifically engineered to control tread stiffness
and stress to reduce irregular wear, which helps
to extend the tire’s tread life without compromising other characteristics. Another compound
delivers a high level of fuel efficiency and keeps
the tire’s operating temperatures low, guarding
the casing for retreading, says Michelin. The tire
also features a three-retread limited warranty.
The tire is available in North America in four G-load and two H-load range sizes. (Michelin North
America, www.michelintruck.com)
