Howard to get the rebound. By making the most of their resources—people,
ideas, and technology—supply chain operations can also capitalize on the
rebound—in this case, the opportunities presented by an economic rebound
and recovery.
Tips for starting off on the right foot will be the focus of the upcoming
Material Handling and Logistics Conference. The event, which is sponsored
by Dematic (formerly HK Systems), will include more than 60 sessions
focused on optimizing the way companies move, store, and deliver material.
The conference runs from Sept. 18–21 in Park City, Utah. For information,

Get the rebound!
You understand the value of effective leadership, but you can’t afford to send your
team off site for a month-long executive education program. Is there another way
to get training that won’t bust the budget or chew up a lot of work time?
The International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA) and TZA Training have
developed a training protocol to address that need. Between Sept. 26 and Dec. 5,
they will offer two series of webinars on leadership skills specifically geared for warehouses and DCs. The webinars take place during the lunch hour on Mondays.
The first series, Logistics Leadership I, consists of eight 75-minute webinar modules for new managers. Topics include setting goals and establishing expectations,
interpersonal communication skills, and managing conflict.
The second series, Logistics Leadership II, is designed for more experienced leaders. Modules include leadership for results, preparing generation X and Y for supervisory roles, and transforming your staff from a group into a team.
