Hornet horizontal carousel:
The new Hornet horizontal
carousel from Sapient
Automation offers a low-cost
automated solution for the
storage and retrieval of small
parts, items, and cases.
Horizontal carousels also
reduce labor by up to two-thirds by bringing items to the
operator and eliminating the need for walking and searching,
according to the manufacturer.
Each carousel is designed using adjustable shelves in metal
bins, which rotate horizontally on a track. A push of a button or
scan of a bar code will rotate the carousels to the nose end,
where an operator can pick product with the help of an integrated pick-to-light or voice-directed picking system. Systems
can be designed with controls ranging from a simple push button or foot switch to a full suite of inventory management software, which can be integrated into existing warehouse management systems and enterprise resource planning systems.
The Hornet’s Intelligent Machine Health monitoring system
reports each carousel’s health to the servicing technician and to
Sapient Automation’s central monitoring center. Proactive servicing helps assure increased system up time, unit longevity, and
faster return on investment.
A full range of carousel bin sizes, lengths, and heights are
available. (Sapient Automation, www.GetSapient.com)

NuStar Power Pusher: NuStar
Inc. has introduced Power Pusher,
a new pedestrian-operated bat-tery-powered pusher. The Power
Pusher enables a single worker to
push, pull, and maneuver wheeled
loads of up to 150,000 pounds.
Unlike forklifts or other ride-on
equipment, the Power Pusher runs
on batteries, so it doesn’t consume gasoline, diesel, or propane.
It also does not emit any harmful
exhaust or fumes. It is significantly less expensive than a forklift,
and operators do not need a license.
The Power Pusher comes with a built-in battery charger that
plugs into a standard outlet. With a footprint of less than two
square yards, the Power Pusher is easily stored at a job site and
is easy to transport from site to site.
Accessories and attachments include hitches, tow bars,
strobes, motion beepers, and push plates. Custom options are
also available. (NuStar Inc., www.powerpusher.com)
