Voice-directed picking technology:
Knapp’s KiSoft Voice is a voice-directed picking technology that is implemented through
a headset and used for processes such as
picking, replenishment, or taking inventory.
KiSoft Voice provides the user with the
maximum freedom of movement—both
hands and eyes are free—which accelerates
and simplifies the picking process. Use of this
technology results in a clear-cut increase in
productivity and a reduction in the error rate,
the company says.
The KiSoft Voice application is suited for
fast-moving products in both manual and
automatic picking areas. It is also suitable for
use in warehouse areas with extreme ambient conditions such as in deep-freeze zones,
because manual data entry is unnecessary.
The picking technology functions independently of the hardware and can be quickly
integrated into existing systems. The voice-directed user guidance significantly shortens
the training process. KiSoft Voice is available
in numerous languages and allows employees
with different native languages to work with
the same system. (Knapp, www.knapp.com)
Advanced speech recognition platform: Built on the industry’s most advanced
speech recognition platform, Intelligrated
Voice is designed to enable automated,
hands-free order fulfillment to drive increased
throughput and accuracy. Its architecture
relies on powerful servers and advanced
algorithms, rather than the limited computing
power of a mobile device.
Compared with manual processes and legacy automation systems, Intelligrated Voice
delivers benefits to warehouse operations
that include 99.9 percent accuracy and up to
a 45-percent improvement in productivity, the
company says. The voice system also avoids
the “lock-ins” of proprietary mobile devices,
is able to easily drop into existing processes
without disruption, adapts to ever-chang-ing fulfillment requirements, and automates
highly complex mobile tasks and workflows.
Intelligrated Voice supports a wide range
of mobile work tasks, including picking and
putting, receiving, putaway, replenishment,
inventory cycle counting, packing/loading,
and order traceability. It also supports a variety of order picking workflows and adapts
to differing product priorities, from slow- to
fast-moving items and variances in quantities.
The voice platform also enables real-time
business intelligence and integrates seamlessly with the company’s advanced GoalPost LMS
to maximize labor productivity. (Intelligrated
Software, www.intelligrated.com)
Pick by voice: Swisslog has developed pick-by-voice technology that allows
operators to fully focus on their order picking tasks. Since all communication is
through spoken instructions via headset and microphone instead of visually via
paper lists or displays, the picking process is ergonomic and efficient. In addition,
this concept eliminates cumbersome data entry and time-consuming scanning of
the storage location.
By delivering step-by-step just-in-time instructions via voice, the Swisslog voice
system increases productivity, reduces the likelihood of errors, and provides greater
transparency with regard to workloads. (Swisslog, www.swisslog.com)
