Forklift warning lights: TVH in the
Americas, a supplier of replacement parts
and accessories for the material handling and industrial equipment industry,
has introduced “Red LED Area Warning
Lights.” Noting that almost 40 percent of all forklift accidents
involve a pedestrian, the company says the new lights can help
prevent these accidents by emitting a bright red line on the
ground to warn pedestrians that the area is not safe. The warning
light helps to ensure a safer work environment by preventing foot
injuries and collisions from rear-end swing.
With a light output of 1,200 lumens ( 60 watts), the warning
light has five three-watt LEDs and a voltage range of 12-64VDC.
It is 6 inches long, 2. 3 inches high, and 2. 5 inches wide. Included
with the light is the mounting hardware as well as a Deutsch
connector.
These lights are designed to be mounted on the sides of the
forklift but can also be mounted to the rear or front for more
complete coverage. (TVH in the Americas, www.tvh.com)
Forklift work platform: Battery Handling Systems Inc., a
manufacturer of battery handling and warehouse equipment,
recently introduced the Forklift Work Platform (FWP). This OSHA-compliant accessory attaches to a forklift to safely lift personnel
for overhead maintenance tasks.
Forklift Work Platforms also allow workers to quickly access
vertical storage for inventory, order picking, or routine upkeep.
The FWP attaches securely to a forklift and has two safety harness
attachment points for added protection.
When employees perform tasks such as changing light bulbs
or taking inventory, they carry a variety of tools and other items
with them. The FWP deck has an anti-skid surface and a four-inch
toe-kick to prevent these items from falling off, which would be
inconvenient at best and dangerous at worst.
The platform’s 42-inch-high guard railing ensures that personnel stay safely on board, while still allowing maximum access to
shelving. A fork-tine restraint securely locks the platform to the
forks, and a quick-disconnect hitch pin allows for easy mounting
and dismounting. (Battery Handling Systems Inc., www.bhs1.com)
