Ergonomic workstations: Unex Manufacturing has introduced its Flow Cell
workstation, designed to help manufacturers apply Lean manufacturing principles
and create custom-designed ergonomic modular workstations. According to the
company, Unex ergonomic workstations are 13 times stronger than the typical
tube-and-joint modular structure, supporting up to 1,000 pounds per level thanks
to their heavy-gauge steel construction. Other tube-and-joint models can max out at
150 pounds at their longest beam width, and the tubes can bend under too much
weight and have to be replaced, Unex says. The Flow Cell’s square tubing is designed
to eliminate the need to replace bent or damaged beams. (Unex, www.unex.com)
Cold-storage warehouse door: Material
handling systems company Rite-Hite has
introduced the Barrier Glider Cold Storage
Door, a high-speed bi-parting door that is
suitable for refrigerated warehouses, food
manufacturing/processing plants, grocery distribution centers, and other facilities that
require strict environmental control.

The Barrier Glider door features the company’s Thermal-Flex Sealing System, which provides a heated perimeter sealing design with
3-inch-thick flexible Iso-Tek panels. The trolley assembly is constructed of heavy-gauge
round tubing and uses hourglass-shaped rollers so the panel can rotate on the track in
order to withstand a strike. As a safety feature, the panels automatically reverse when
they encounter an obstruction.
According to Rite-Hite, safety is also
enhanced (and heat transfer reduced) by
the Barrier Glider’s fast operating speeds.
Powered by a 1 horsepower AC (alternating
current) motor, it moves at speeds of up to
80 inches per second when opening and 30
inches per second when closing.

Barrier Glider panels range in size from six
by eight feet up to 12 by 20 feet. They are
available with optional 14- by 32-inch vision
panels for increased visibility and safety.
The Barrier Glider comes standard with the
Rite-Hite Graphic User Interface (GUI) door
control panel. A 7-inch LCD touchscreen
interface displays real-time door status and
allows workers to troubleshoot settings without personal protective equipment by eliminating arc flash. (Rite-Hite, www.ritehite.com)

Virtual dispatch system: XYpper Software
has introduced a trucking app designed
to simplify freight finding and processing.
XYpper, a virtual dispatch system (VDS),
sends load offers for all available freight while
truckers are en route, then prepares all the
documents needed for the driver to execute
the load.

XYpper assists independent owner-opera-tors (IOOs) in the trucking industry through
an app- and Web-based VDS in the U.S.,
Canada, and Mexico. The XYpper app allows
IOOs to use the Internet along with mobile
technology to connect with freight brokers.
XYpper works much like other “sharing economy” apps, by directly connecting individuals
who have a need with someone who can perform a service—in XYpper’s case, connecting
truckers who are in a particular geographical
area or on their way, with freight brokers or
shippers in the area who have loads that need
to be delivered.
