Komatsu Forklift U.S.A.— Corporate Profile
Since its beginning in 1945, Komatsu Forklift Co., Ltd.
has grown tremendously, building on its superior design
and manufacturing capabilities to build the type of
rugged and dependable forklift trucks that customers all
over the world have come to depend on. Komatsu
Forklift U.S.A., was established in 1976 to meet the
ever-growing demand for its products in North America.
Since its restructuring in 2009, U.S. production of
Komatsu forklifts at Komatsu America’s Newberry South
Carolina manufacturing operation has continued to
grow. The Newberry Manufacturing Operation is
building the vast majority of Komatsu models currently
being sold and serviced by Komatsu’s North American
distribution channel. Further organizational integration in
2011 saw the utility and forklift businesses under Komatsu Utility become part of Komatsu Ltd. under an
absorption-type merger. This move, intended to strengthen product competitiveness and improve the efficiency of
their product development, will allow Komatsu to conduct the utility and forklift business as one organization.
From its corporate headquarters at the Komatsu America offices in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, Komatsu Forklift U.S.A.
continues to improve its operations. So far improvements include increasing production in Newberry, SC, enhancing
parts distribution from Ripley, TN, introducing training programs at Cartersville, GA, and by integrating headquarters’
functions and information processing with that of Komatsu America Corporation headquarter operations.
Improved Dealer and Customer Support
Komatsu Forklift dealers now have access to an extranet that allows them to obtain information 24/7 and to
communicate with the manufacturer more frequently. It also allows for better dealer support in many functional areas.
In addition, the implementation of a new LMS system for managing product, sales, and service training will give
dealers a better product knowledge base.
In the aftermarket side of the business, Komatsu America’s Ripley, TN Parts Distribution Center is open 24 hours a
day and seven days a week to provide dealers and customers with excellent service and response times for genuine
OEM aftermarket parts.
Komatsu Forklift offers a wide range of internal
combustion engine and electric model forklifts
with capacities from 3,000 to 35,000 pounds.
Komatsu Forklift U.S.A. stands behind its
products with superior service, genuine OEM
parts, and a comprehensive warranty program
administered through a dependable dealer
network with over 150 locations in North America,
Mexico and Latin America.
