The port’s six state-of-the-art terminals can process cargo
efficiently and quickly, which attracts the 40 ocean carriers that
regularly call on the NY/NJ port. The port also offers shippers:
• A convenient location with immediate access to
over one-third of the nation’s consumer market,
including eastern Canada
• Extensive transportation infrastructure, warehouse,
and distribution options
• Three competitive rail services and three on-dock
rail facilities for seamless transfer of cargo
And with $4.3 billion committed toward infrastructure
investments, including raising the Bayonne Bridge roadway
to accommodate post-Panamax vessels; building a replacement
Goethals Bridge; and enhancing the port’s roadway and rail
capacity; the Port of New York and New Jersey will continue
to be the premier East Coast port of North America.
