Ceiling fan: Herkules Equipment
Corp. has introduced a new lightweight, quiet, and cost-efficient
ceiling fan for cooling large warehouse and manufacturing facilities. The vertical tri-pole mount
ceiling fan can move air more
than 300 feet away, efficiently
cooling a large working area. It
has variable speed controls and a low noise level.
At full power, the fan consumes just 500 watts of energy, and
at the lowest speeds, it consumes only 10 watts.
The fan’s blade is made of aircraft-grade aluminum that encases a polyurethane foam core. As a result, the blade weighs only
1. 5 pounds.
The fan has a brushless direct-drive motor with neodymium
permanent rare earth magnets. The zero-maintenance motor is
extremely long lasting and has no belts, drives, gears, or pulleys
that need replacing. The motor is fully sealed and resists corrosion. (Herkules Equipment Corp., www.herkules.us/fans.php)
Battery calculator: The EnerSys Convert to Electric calculator
is an online calculator that allows customers to compare the
monthly costs of liquid propane fuel vs. electricity, based on using
leased lift trucks, batteries, and chargers. In under five minutes,
users can get an accurate picture of the cost of converting lift
truck fleets to electric power, says EnerSys. The calculator can be
found at http://convert2electric.com/caculator/.
Other online calculators have fixed fields that assume upfront
capital costs for the electric lift truck, battery, and charger. But
that does not present a true cost picture if customers want to
lease, says EnerSys.
The calculator allows customers to factor in options specific to
their operations, such as number of trucks, hours of use, truck
capacity, equipment type, fuel type, term of lease, and interest
rate. Customers operating in all conditions—such as heavy loads,
multiple shifts, indoors or outdoors, or longer shifts—can enter
their options in the fields provided.
Slider bars on each field enable customers to adjust for changing conditions, such as a surge in propane prices. (EnerSys, www.

Pallet truck: Yale Materials Handling Corp. has introduced a
new heavy-duty pallet truck to its lineup. The MPB045-VG walkie
increases efficiency and productivity by improving operator comfort, the company says.
The new walkie is available with Yale’s Smart Lift technology,
which can reduce cycle times by up to 25 percent, according to
the company. The technology allows an operator to begin moving a pallet before it is at full lift. The truck can also be equipped
with Yale’s Smart Slow Down technology, which reduces speed
during cornering.
The truck is designed with an easily removable cover for ease
of maintenance. (Yale Materials Handling Corp., www.yale.com)
